Albany Healing Motion Physical Therapy isn’t just another clinic—it’s a place where patients receive one-on-one care from a Doctor of Physical Therapy, with no assistants or techs involved. Their direct access model means patients can schedule an appointment without a doctor’s referral, which removes unnecessary delays in care.

At a recent Albany Area Chamber of Commerce Greeters meeting, Dr. Erin Erven, PT, DPT, OCS, who recently celebrated three years leading the clinic, and her team welcomed local business professionals for a morning of networking, education, and movement. Their presentation showcased not only their hands-on, personalized approach to physical therapy but also some real-life success stories from patients who found relief at Healing Motion.

Meet the Team at Albany Healing Motion Physical Therapy

Dr. Erin Erven, who leads the Albany location, has been practicing physical therapy in the area for over 12 years. She introduced her team with pride, giving a glimpse into the strong, patient-focused culture at the clinic.

“We have a really great team here,” Dr. Erven said. “We do general orthopedic physical therapy, so if you’ve had surgery, if you have back pain, if you’re dizzy, if you have bad balance, we can do all those things. We also specialize in pelvic floor physical therapy, and we’re opening a new pelvic floor-specific clinic in Corvallis in the next couple months, which is really exciting.”

Alongside Dr. Erven, the Albany Healing Motion team includes:

  • Dr. Erik Cronrath, PT, DPT
  • Dr. Kjell Mann, PT, DPT
  • Dr. Stephanie Deering, PT, DPT
  • Dr. Baylie Cameron, PT, DPT

Front Office Manager Kristy Deeds, who has been with Healing Motion for over two years, also plays a key role in ensuring smooth scheduling and patient support.

What Makes Albany Healing Motion Different?

Albany Healing Motion stands out for several reasons, but one of the most important benefits for patients is direct access to physical therapy.

“You don’t have to have a referral from your doctor to come into physical therapy in Oregon,” Dr. Erven explained. “It’s called direct access. You can just call us up, talk to Kristy, and she’ll set you up with an appointment. She’ll talk to you about your insurance benefits and what that coverage looks like, and then you can come in and figure out what’s going on with your physical therapist—without having to jump through the hoops of going to the doctor and then waiting to get in to see us.”

Kristy Deeds added, “I think a lot of people in this room realize that we’re in a healthcare crisis, and it’s very hard to access your primary care—if you’re lucky enough to even have a primary care. And so what I often find in just conversations about PT is sometimes there’s a misconception that physical therapy is only for people who’ve had surgery or a major trauma or accident… but really, we see patients for everything.”

Beyond post-surgical recovery, Healing Motion also helps patients with:
✔ Chronic pain (shoulders, back, knees, etc.)
✔ Balance and dizziness issues
✔ Headaches and vestibular conditions
✔ Sports injuries and maintenance care

Real Patient Success Stories

When given the chance, several attendees at the Greeters meeting eagerly shared their personal experiences with Healing Motion, praising the clinic for helping them get back to an active, pain-free life

One person shared how the team treated their vertigo, saying, “The Healing Motion group helped me out with vertigo. I talked to Dr. Dane over in Corvallis, and he dropped me in and got me all fixed up.”

Another attendee spoke about how physical therapy helped with knee pain:
“I was starting to walk like an old guy—and for a guy 35 (he joked), that’s really, really rough. So I went over and saw them. I actually took my wife, and we had a joint session together. They assessed me as being in terrible shape—but no, really, they helped me with my knee and gave me exercises, and it really, really helped.”

Dr. Kjell Mann, PT, DPT, also received a special shoutout from a patient who had been living with severe back pain for years.

“I was living with seven or nine pain in my back all the time. I have a degenerative disc—it’s extruded. I have a couple of other bulging discs. And I was like, ‘I’m just gonna suffer through it.’ And then it turns out, when you talk to the professionals, they can actually help. I worked with a sports medicine doctor in tandem with Healing Motion, and I mean, I’m at like 90-95% now. And a lot of that’s a testimony to this guy’s amazing ability.”

He also highlighted the home exercise program that made a difference. “They gave me a huge list of homework that I have to do every single day, like half an hour worth of stuff. But when I took that seriously, when they started to kick my butt, I got better. And that’s a huge testimony to the group here.”

Movement Matters: The Functional Movement Assessment

Dr. Erven also led attendees through a Functional Movement Assessment, a tool Healing Motion uses to evaluate mobility and pinpoint issues contributing to pain.

“This is something we do for our patients or for our athletes,” she explained. “It basically is a head-to-toe screen. You go through the movements, and how you perform those movements—if they feel painful or not, if you can do them or not—gives us a lot of information about things that might be stiff or weak.”

The assessment included simple movements like touching toes, looking over the shoulder, and balance tests, all of which can reveal imbalances or mobility restrictions that contribute to discomfort.

Flexible Scheduling & Easy Access to Care

One of the most frustrating aspects of healthcare is long wait times for appointments—but Healing Motion is changing that.

“Depending on your own schedule, here in our clinic, we have access that is from immediate to maybe three or four weeks out,” Kristy Deeds explained. “Which is really great.”

She also emphasized that patients can reach their physical therapist easily, even outside of their scheduled appointments.

“You have access to your physical therapist. You can email them. You can call and say, ‘I need them to give me a call,’ and they’re going to give you a call back that same day. So the relationship becomes very tight-knit, and it’s not hard to access them outside of your appointments.”
