Kingdom City Coffeehouse salem oregon

In contrast to the fast pace of life these days, Kingdom City Coffeehouse in Salem, OR offers a quiet place of peace and community. Co-founders, Devin Brown and his wife, have turned their dream into reality by creating this cozy coffee shop, focusing on more than just serving coffee.

Devin and his wife always dreamed of opening a coffee shop. Initially, they planned to establish their business in Albany, but eventually decided to stay in Salem instead. Devin and his wife both have a passion for coffee. However Devin’s love for coffee was really kindled during a three month trip to France, where his “mind was blown” as he experienced the rich and diverse coffee culture. “The culture shock of JUST coffee, but it was incredible!” Devin recalls.

Kingdom City Coffeehouse is not just another coffee shop; it is a place designed to feel like home. Inspired by the biblical King Melchizedek, the king of Salem (which means peace), Devin and his wife wanted to design a place with a peaceful atmosphere in the city of Salem. “At Kingdom City, we want to create an environment that customers feel blessed to come to and brings people back. Life is busy, but it’s important to slow down and think about the community, your blessings, and who’s around you,” Devin explains.

Supporting Youth and Engaging the Community

The coffeehouse also serves a greater purpose by supporting local youth through career development. Inspired by their experience as foster parents, Devin and his wife saw a need to help young people develop essential job skills. “We want to help youth with customer service skills and building relationships. It’s not just about having a job; it’s about keeping it and growing,” Devin says.

Kingdom City Coffeehouse is a hub for community activities. From worship nights with Cherry City Worship to family game nights and baby showers, the coffeehouse offers flexible space for various events. “It’s a beautiful place. We want people to use our facility to enjoy life and connect with others,” Devin shares.

Beyond serving coffee in the shop, Kingdom City Coffeehouse also offers catering services. Devin roasts the coffee himself, ensuring a personal touch in every cup. “I love people and I love the hospitality of hosting,” Devin remarks. When you get coffee from Kingdom City, you’re getting a piece of Devin’s passion.

Devin is also working on a dedicated website to share their story and provide more information about their services and share their dreams for what more they would like to do to have a greater impact in the Salem community.

Kingdom City Coffeehouse is more than just a coffee shop. It is a place where people can retreat to find peace, enjoy great coffee, and be part of a supportive community. “We want our customers to feel blessed and remind them that even in the busyness of life, there’s always time to slow down and appreciate the moment,” Devin concludes.
