Hosted by City of Salem Recreation Services, Park After Dark invites kids ages 9–12 to explore Minto-Brown Island Park after sunset. This guided evening walk offers a fun and educational chance to discover nocturnal wildlife in their natural habitat.

Salem Poké Fest & Trick or Treat
Salem Poké Fest is coming for two full days of collectible fun at the Salem Armory Auditorium. Browse and shop Pokémon cards, Funko figures, comics, Magic, sports cards, and more. General admission starts at 11:00 AM, but VIP Early Access Pass holders can get in at 10:00 AM and enjoy perks like early showroom entry, a Saturday trade night with appetizers, and a premium gift (while supplies last). Kids 12 and under enter free with a paid adult.

Street Smarts Safety Workshop
Hosted by Kensho Martial Arts, this hands-on safety workshop is designed to help kids ages 7–13 recognize red flag situations, build personal safety skills, and learn basic self-defense. Whether they’re at school, the park, or walking home, kids will gain age-appropriate tools to stay safe in everyday situations. Kensho students attend free when they bring a friend. Salem Oregon Out of the Darkness Walk
Hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention – Oregon Chapter, this annual walk at Riverfront Park brings the community together to raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention. Participants walk side-by-side in memory of those lost and in support of mental health.
The event includes a resource fair and opening ceremony and welcomes families, pets, strollers, and wheelchairs. Those unable to walk are encouraged to attend and be part of the supportive environment. Registration is free.
