May is National Historic Preservation Month, and there is no better way to celebrate Albany’s rich heritage than by looking a little closer at the buildings we pass every day. The Hidden History Scavenger Hunt is officially underway, offering a fun, free way for residents to engage with the city’s historic architecture.

Hosted by The Natty Dresser, in partnership with the Albany Downtown Association (ADA) and the Albany Visitors Association (AVA), the scavenger hunt challenges participants to find specific architectural details hidden in plain sight throughout the downtown district.
How to Join the Hunt
Participating is simple and can be done at your own pace throughout the month:
- Pick Up Your Entry Form: Forms are available at The Natty Dresser (124 Broadalbin St. SW), the AVA, the ADA office or download at The Natty Dresser Facebook Page.
- The Mission: The form contains photos of various “architectural treasures”—think unique stonework, vintage door frames, or intricate cornices. Your job is to find which downtown building matches each photo.
- Submit to Win: Return your completed form to The Natty Dresser by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29th.
All correctly completed entries will be entered into a prize drawing, with the winner being announced on May 30th.
