Looking for a summer experience that combines high-energy fun with life-saving skills? The Albany Fire and Police Departments have officially announced the dates for Safety Camp 2026, and registration is now live!

This popular week-long camp gives local youth a behind-the-scenes look at public safety while teaching them how to stay safe in their everyday lives.

What to Expect

Safety Camp is packed with hands-on activities led by our local first responders. Participants will dive into a variety of topics, including:

  • Fire & Water Safety: Learn essential skills for staying safe at home and in the pool.
  • Bike & Animal Safety: Master the rules of the road and how to interact safely with pets and wildlife.
  • Daily Swimming: Campers should bring their swimsuits and towels, as the group will be heading to the water or the pool every single day!

Camp Details

  • Dates: June 29 – July 2, 2026
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. daily
  • Location: Oak Grove Elementary (1500 NW Oak Grove Drive)

Calling All High Schoolers: Become a Counselor!

Safety Camp isn’t just for the younger kids—it’s also a great leadership opportunity for local teens. Students entering grades 9 through 12 this fall can apply to be Safety Camp Counselors. It’s a rewarding way to earn volunteer hours, mentor younger students, and work alongside Albany’s firefighters and police officers.
