As we head into the final quarter of the school year, many local classrooms are starting to see the bottom of the supply bin. To ensure every student has the tools they need to cross the finish line in June, the Albany Public Schools Foundation (APSF) is launching its annual Peely’s Spring School Supply Drive.

Running from April 1 through April 30, this month-long effort is designed to restock the shelves of Peely’s Teacher Supply House. This vital resource allows Greater Albany Public Schools (GAPS) teachers to “shop” for classroom essentials at no cost, preventing them from having to spend their own money on basic supplies for their students.
The “Why” Behind the Drive
By the time spring break ends, the initial mountain of supplies from September has usually dwindled to a few stubs of chalk and empty glue sticks. Peely’s Supply House bridges that gap, ensuring that teachers can focus on instruction rather than wondering where their next ream of paper is coming from.
The “Most Needed” List
While any new school supplies are welcome, the Foundation has identified several high-priority items that are currently in short supply:
- Cleaning & Health: Disinfecting wipes, tissues, and hand sanitizer (8oz+).
- Classroom Tools: Dry erase markers/erasers, highlighters, and Post-It notes.
- Student Basics: Glue sticks, Sharpies (black and colored), and erasers (pink and pencil-top).
Where to Drop Off Your Donations
You can drop off new, unopened supplies at several convenient locations across Albany throughout the month of April:
- APSF Office: 2953 Clover Ridge Rd. NE, Room #10
- Oregon State Credit Union (North Albany): 625 NW Hickory St.
- Willamette Valley Bank: 1970 SE 14th Ave.
- People’s Bank: 333 SE Lyon St.
- Selco Community Credit Union: 1823 14th Ave. SE
Shop from Home
If you can’t make it to a drop site, you can still support Albany students from your couch. The Foundation has set up dedicated gift registries at Amazon, Walmart, and Target, allowing you to purchase needed items and have them shipped directly to the APSF office.
