One of Albany’s premier late-summer traditions is right around the corner! The annual Northwest Art & Air Festival returns to Timber Linn Memorial Park from Friday, August 28 through Sunday, August 30, bringing vibrant hot-air balloons, local artisans, live entertainment, and family fun to our community.

Whether you’re planning to watch the early morning launches or marvel at the Friday night balloon glow, this festival offers three full days of free entertainment for all ages.

Festival Highlights & Event Schedule

Admission to the festival is free, making it a fantastic weekend outing for local families. Here is what visitors can look forward to across the weekend:

  • Morning Balloon Launches: Set-up begins daily at 6:15 a.m. (weather permitting). Early risers can watch dozens of colorful hot-air balloons fill the sky over Timber-Linn Park.
  • Friday Night Glow: If mornings aren’t your thing, head out Friday evening for the iconic Night Glow. Watch brilliantly colored balloons tower over the crowd, lighting up the night sky against the dark.
  • Art, Food & Entertainment: Browse local art vendors, grab a bite from food booths, check out the car show, or relax in the beer and wine garden.
  • Family Zone: Kids can enjoy hands-on activities, games, and entertainment tailored just for young festivalgoers.

Note: The festival officially concludes on Sunday morning following the final balloon launch.

Now Hiring Crew Volunteers: Help Launch the Balloons!

Want an unforgettable, hands-on experience at this year’s festival? Albany Parks & Recreation is actively recruiting volunteer crew members to assist with the hot-air balloon launches throughout the weekend!

Crewing offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at how hot-air balloons operate—from ground setup and inflation to launch assistance.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Must be available a minimum of two days during the festival (August 28–30).
  • Volunteers must be 18 years or older, or ages 15–17 signed up with a parent.
