It’s time to trade the track spikes for swim goggles! The Albany Public Schools Foundation (APSF) has officially opened registration for the 2026 iSwim for Kids event, and the community is invited to dive in for a great cause.
On Saturday, April 25, students from across the Greater Albany Public School (GAPS) district will gather at the Albany Community Pool to swim laps and raise vital funds for local education.
The “Double Impact” of iSwim
Every lap swum helps support our schools in two distinct ways:
- Direct to Schools: Half of all pledges raised (after expenses) go directly back to the P.E. program of the participating student’s school.
- Classroom Grants: The other half is distributed through the APSF Classroom Grants program, which funds innovative tools and enrichment projects for teachers throughout the district.
Event Highlights & Prizes
iSwim is designed to be fun for every skill level. If a student isn’t a swimmer, they can walk in the shallow end or even walk four laps on the South Albany High School track to count as their 20 laps!
- The $40 Goal: Students who collect $40 or more in pledges will receive the official 2026 iSwim T-shirt.
- The Grand Prize: The student who raises the most money district-wide wins a Dutch Bros Hot Chocolate Partyfor their entire classroom!
- School Spirit: The top participating school wins $350, and the “Most Improved” school wins $100 and a special visit from Peely the Apple.
Support a Student: Sponsorship Opportunities
If you don’t have a student in the pool but still want to help, you can become a sponsor! APSF has made it easy to ensure every child can participate regardless of their financial situation.
- Sponsor a Kid ($40): Covers the pledge for a student from a low-income school so they can earn their T-shirt.
- Student Support ($100): A business-level sponsorship that covers two students and includes your name on the event shirt and website.
How to Register or Donate
Registration and pledging are now centralized on the Zeffy platform. It is free to register, and you can easily share your student’s fundraising link with friends and family.
