It’s time to dust off your running shoes for one of Albany’s favorite spring traditions! Registration is officially open for the 2026 iRun for Kids, the signature fundraiser for the Albany Public Schools Foundation (APSF).
Scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026, this event brings hundreds of community members together at the West Albany High School track to support local teachers and students. Whether you’re a serious racer or just looking for a fun morning walk with the family, there’s a place for you on the course.
Races for Every Pace
The iRun for Kids event offers three distinct distances to ensure everyone can participate:
- The 10-Mile Run: A challenging route for those looking to push their limits or train for upcoming spring marathons.
- The 5K Run/Walk: A community favorite that is perfect for all skill levels. Strollers and well-behaved “furry friends” on leashes are also welcome!
- The Little Leprechaun Dash: A special 800-meter run around the West Albany track specifically for kids in Kindergarten through 2nd grade.
Save with Early Bird Registration
Planning ahead pays off! Participants who register early can take advantage of discounted rates through January 31, 2026.
- Adult 5K: $40 during Early Bird ($50 after Jan. 31).
- Adult 10-Mile: $55 during Early Bird ($65 after Jan. 31).
- K-12 Students: Always just $20.
- Little Leprechaun Dash: $10.
Pro Tip: You must register by February 24, 2026, to guarantee a race T-shirt is included with your registration.
Run for a Cause (and Your School!)
Every dollar raised through registration fees and donations goes directly to the APSF to fund classroom grants, student scholarships, and essential school supplies.
Plus, there’s a little friendly competition involved: the Albany school with the highest participation rate will win a $500 cash prize for their own programs. When you register, make sure to select which local school you are representing!
