A Passion for Hunting and Preservation is Sweet Home’s Own, Predator & Pray!

For Craig and Amber Bell, taxidermy is more than just a business—it’s a way of life. As the husband-and-wife duo behind Predator & Pray Taxidermy, they bring their love of God, hunting, self-reliance, and artistry together to create high-quality, affordable mounts that capture the spirit of the hunt. Located in Sweet Home, Oregon, their taxidermy shop specializes in everything from big game to intricate feather art, all while maintaining fast turnaround times and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Craig has been immersed in the world of taxidermy and the outdoors for over 25 years. His journey began at an early age, trapping animals with his father when he was just four years old. By the time he was eight, he and his brother Nate were running trap lines on their own after school, skinning, and selling furs. His passion led him to study under a master taxidermist in Indiana, and in 2009, he graduated from the Missouri Taxidermy Institute. His ability to create, fix, and transform has made him a natural in the field.

Amber grew up around hunting and learned essential self-reliance skills from her parents, from fishing and shooting to food preservation. After marrying Craig in 2020, she pursued her long-held desire to start hunting regularly. With Craig’s guidance, she harvested her first turkey, and she was instantly hooked on the experience—the connection with nature, the hard work, and the satisfaction of providing for her family. Her passion for hunting naturally evolved into taxidermy, and when she mounted her first deer head under Craig’s instruction, she realized they had the perfect business to pursue together.
The Story Behind the Name
Predator & Pray Taxidermy represents more than just their craft—it reflects their faith in Jesus and lifestyle. They specialize in mounting both predators and prey, bringing years of experience and creative talent to every piece. Their goal is to support and promote the hunting and self-reliant lifestyle, while honoring God’s creation by preserving it for generations to come.

Commitment to Quality and Affordability
One of the key things that sets Predator & Pray apart is their dedication to affordability without sacrificing quality. They believe that every hunter should be able to relive the memories of their hunt without breaking the bank. Life is already expensive, and taxidermy shouldn’t be another financial burden. That’s why they work hard to keep their prices low while ensuring each project meets the highest standards.
Additionally, Predator & Pray offers in-house tanning, which helps save both time and cost for their customers. They also provide a $50 discount for veterans and for a kid’s first deer, further showing their support for the hunting community.
More Than Just Mounts
While traditional mounts are a staple of their business, Predator & Pray offers a variety of other creative options for those looking for something unique:
- Custom beaded skulls
- Feather art and framed pieces
- Turkey wing bone calls and tail mounts
- Handcrafted backpack mounts, where they build the pack frames themselves
- Home décor pieces that blend hunting traditions with rustic style
Whether it’s a full-body mount or a subtle piece of art, Craig and Amber bring their craftsmanship and creativity to every project.

The Joy of the Craft
For Craig and Amber, the most rewarding part of their work is seeing the joy on their customers’ faces when they pick up their finished mount. Every mount tells a story, and their ability to “bring the animal back to life” is something that fills their hearts with pride. They are humbled by the kind words from customers who say their work stands above the rest, and they remain committed to continually improving and expanding their skillset.
A Growing Business with Big Plans
2025 marks the official grand opening of Predator & Pray Taxidermy. The Bells are working toward having both Craig and Amber in the shop full-time by hunting season. They’ve been actively engaging with fellow hunters at sportsman’s shows, building relationships, and spreading the word about their business. As they continue to grow, they hope to establish themselves as a go-to taxidermy shop in the region.
