It’s market season in Salem, Oregon, which means there are plenty of opportunities to shop local produce and goods. Between locally-grown produce, artisan foods and baked goods, fresh-cut flowers, and one-of-a-kind handmade items, these community markets and farm stands showcase Salem’s best makers.
Salem Saturday Market
As the flagship event of Salem Community Markets, the Salem Saturday Market is a beloved weekend staple. Held downtown near the Oregon State Capitol, this bustling open-air market brings together over 100 vendors each week! Locals and visitors (and their friendly dogs) can browse seasonal produce, baked goods, handcrafted items, artisan foods, fresh flowers, plants and starts, and so much more. The Saturday Market is open March through October from 9 AM – 2 PM (every Saturday). You’ll want to get there early, as many vendors sell out by the afternoon!
Monday Hospital Market
Kicking off on May 5th, 2025, the Monday Hospital Market is conveniently located on the Salem Hospital campus between Buildings A & C. This smaller midday market operates May through September and features a small but mighty selection of vendors offering fruits, vegetables, flowers, and lunch-friendly food options. Open 9:30 AM – 1:30 PM!
Wednesday Chemeketa Market
The Wednesday Chemeketa Market is another small midweek market held at Chemeketa Community College’s Agricultural Hub. With a focus on food and culture, visitors can browse local goods and lunch options from 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM. The Wednesday Chemeketa Market opens May 7th, 2025 and runs through September,
Thursday West Salem Market
For those in West Salem—and anyone who makes the short drive over the bridge—the West Salem Market is open every Thursday from May to September. Located on Edgewater between Gerth and Kingwood Streets, this weekday market is a convenient and charming spot to pick up local produce and products during the week. Open 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM.
Wavra Farms Winter Market
When the weather cools down, Wavra Farms keeps market season alive with their indoor winter market, which is held inside their greenhouse from October through March. This winter market features handcrafted jewelry, baked goods, pottery, houseplants, gifts, and more. It’s a great way to continue supporting local makers and small farms during the off-season, all while enjoying the welcoming atmosphere of a family-run nursery.
Salem Public Market
As Oregon’s oldest indoor public market, the Salem Public Market is open every Saturday (all year) from 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM. This market offers an impressive mix of fresh produce, pasture-raised meats, homemade baked goods, allergy-friendly foods, skincare, art, plants, and more—AND they’ve been connecting local producers and shoppers since 1943!
EZ Orchards Farm Market
Arguably most well-known for their seasonal strawberry shortcake and apple cider donuts, EZ Orchards Farm Market is a year-round favorite in the area. Their market is reliably stocked with fresh seasonal produce, gourmet pantry items, and artisan goods. Plus, their seasonal events are fun for the whole family!
Jones Farm Produce
Just north of Salem, Jones Farm Produce is a family-owned farm stand known for their fresh-picked berries, peaches, corn, tomatoes, and other seasonal crops. In addition to farm-fresh fruits and veggies, you’ll also find jams, local honey, and other goods celebrating the bounty of the Willamette Valley. Open daily during the growing season (May through October)!
Aspinwall’s Nursery & Produce
If you head towards the coast on Highway 22 W, you’ll find Aspinwall’s Nursery & Produce. This cheerful roadside stop provides a colorful mix of fresh seasonal produce, flowers, honey, jam, pickled goods, and homemade ice cream desserts! Since 1962, Aspinwall’s has been a go-to spot for stocking up on garden goodness or grabbing a sweet summertime treat.
