The Albany Community Pool is officially welcoming swimmers back to the water following its extended annual closure. Serving the local area for 47 years, the facility underwent extensive routine maintenance, safety improvements, and deep cleaning to ensure operations continue running smoothly for local families and members.
Maintenance & Facility Upgrades Completed
During the closure, staff and service teams completed a comprehensive list of facility improvements, including:
- Pool & Deck Maintenance: Drained the main basin to plaster problem areas, repaired pool tiles, scraped and repainted the bulkhead, and made safety upgrades across the deck and back room.
- Filtration & Water Systems: Deep-cleaned the chlorinator, serviced filter covers, completed pit work, and cleaned and repaired facility gutters.
- Deep Cleaning & Detailing: Pressure washed the grounds, polished starting blocks, touched up interior paint, and conducted a top-to-bottom deep clean throughout the building.
Therapeutic Spa Project Update
While general maintenance is complete, construction on the pool’s highly anticipated new therapeutic spa remains pending final permits. Facility leaders noted that while work was slated to begin during the closure, complex permitting workflows have extended the timeline. Active progress continues through the approval stages, with updates to follow as construction timelines are finalized.
Facility management also extended a warm thank you to the Mid-Willamette Family YMCA for partnering to accommodate local swimmers and members throughout the closure period.
The Albany Community Pool officially reopened its doors to the public on Monday, September 14.
