The holiday magic is in full swing at the Linn County Expo Center, where two of the Mid-Willamette Valley’s most cherished Christmas traditions have united to create one massive, unforgettable indoor spectacle. Christmas Storybook Land, celebrating its 49th year, is currently running, and for the second season, it is proudly featuring the famous Pastega Christmas Lights.
This monumental merger has cemented the Linn County Expo Center as the region’s ultimate destination for festive cheer, drawing over 50,000 visitors last season alone.
A Four-Decade Legacy of Giving
Christmas Storybook Land is an annual non-profit event that began with a simple dream shared by Albany resident Don Albright in 1976. Since 1977, the dedicated volunteer-run organization has transformed the fairgrounds into an indoor walk-through forest of wonder. Visitors stroll through over 130 meticulously crafted, non-commercial scenes that bring beloved nursery rhymes, fairy tales, and classic holiday movies to life. Highlights include a stop to cheer up the Grinch, the iconic Victorian Village, and the chance to meet Santa and receive a free candy cane.
The event’s enduring charm lies in its commitment to the community: admission is always free. In the spirit of holiday generosity, visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations, which are collected and directly benefit Fish of Albany, a local food bank.
The Brightest Addition: Pastega Lights Find a New Home
The spectacle became significantly larger and brighter with the incorporation of the Pastega Christmas Lights. For decades, the Pastega display was a staple in Corvallis, but after needing a new home, it was warmly welcomed to Albany by the Linn County Expo Center and combined with Storybook Land.
Now, visitors can enjoy the breathtaking indoor display of Storybook Land’s detailed scenes and model trains alongside the famous, dazzling light arrangements of the Pastega tradition, all in one convenient location. This combination offers a perfect indoor alternative to a cold night, allowing families to take their time and fully immerse themselves in the warmth of the holiday season.
Last Chance for Holiday Cheer
The event runs through Sunday, December 21, 2025, giving the community one final week to experience this beloved annual tradition.
