Advanced Settings

If you want more granular control, or want to include your own Analytics scripts, this is the place

Most of the advanced settings have been automatically set to values that are generally good for most businesses. If you want a bit more granular control, or to put in your own Analytics codes, view RSS/API links, etc. you are free to explore these.

Note that most settings fields that are toggle/checkbox, or text based, don’t have the opportunity to break much. Fields like Scripts and API Keys can break your profile if used improperly.

Business Profile

These settings affect how your Business Profile looks and behaves.

“Write a Review” Text

Changing this will change the text of the “Write a Review” button on your profile.

Heading Labels

There are a few headings on your business profile at the start of various sections. You can change some of the default verbiage here. An example would be changing Staff Members to Employees, Our Team, or The
/5 based on Reviews
Family
.

Reviews

These settings allow you to modify how your business gathers and shares reviews online.

Reviews Threshold

By default, we treat 4 and 5 star reviews as “positive”, and thus set these reviews to be featured automatically. If you would like to change which reviews are automatically featured, you can change this setting.

You can read more about Featuring Reviews Here . You can feature or unfeature a review at any time, regardless of the rating.

Allow Anonymous Reviews

Some businesses or industries may find it beneficial (or legally required) to allow users to write reviews anonymously. If that’s the case for you, you can toggle this on.

All this will do is add a simple toggle on your WhirLocal Review Form that allows a user to leave their review anonymously. You, as the business owner, will still be able to know who wrote it, but their name will not be published on the front end of your website. Remember, this adds the option for users to leave an anonymous review, it doesn’t make all reviews anonymous!

Review Notices

You have the option to change the Positive and Negative review notices that are displayed to users after they have left a review on WhirLocal. The Positive notice is shown to anybody who leaves a 3, 4, or 5 star review (regardless of what your Review Threshold is). The Negative notice is shown to users who leave a 1 or 2 star review. You have the option to include the {first_name} mergetag, which will display the reviewer’s first name to add a little personal flair to your notice.

Review Form Fields

These settings, similar to the Business Profile Heading Labels, allow you to change some of the default text on your WhirLocal Review Form.

Review Form Videos

We provide a place for you to place 3 separate videos. The Welcome Video will display above your Review Form to welcome your customers who are reviewing you. You can express your gratitude to them here. The Thank You Video displays after a positive review is left (3, 4 or 5 stars) – be sure to express your gratitude, and entice them to do business with you again! The How Can We Help Video is shown after a negative review is left (1 or 2 stars), and here you can express that you would like to make things right.

Check-In Page

This is a very powerful tool that can be utilized to easily gather reviews and add people to your Contacts. It is usually used on a tablet or laptop and can be set up at events you attend, or right at your front desk. The settings here allow you to customize the verbiage on the page, and manage the form fields.

When somebody checks in, they will be added to your Contacts. If they fill in their phone number, it will send them an SMS message as well, with a link to leave you a review.

We have an deep-dive lesson in how to make the most of your Check-In Page, which you can view here: COMING SOON

Twilio API Settings

If you would like to use your own Twilio settings for the SMS features of WhirLocal such as the Check-In Page Notification (and SMS campaigns, coming soon!), you can put in your own Twilio API credentials here.

Analytics & Scripts

You may wish to do your own tracking, and if so we have given you a place to use your Google Analytics Code (or whichever analytics tracking code you use), and Facebook Retargeting Pixel Code.

You also have the options to add scripts to your Business Profile and content. The main areas are Header Scripts (which get placed in the <head> tag), Body Scripts (which get placed right inside the <body> tag), and Footer Scripts (which get placed right before the closing </body> tag).

Notice: Use of dangerous, malicious, or experience-breaking codes may result in termination of your account.

RSS & API

WhirLocal has both an RSS Feed and a JSON API for you to take advantage of. We are currently working on expanding this to more routes, and will eventually be releasing a WordPress Plugin and Script that will allow you to embed your reviews, business information, and other content from WhirLocal onto your website.
