First Friday: Preserving Your Family Photos
Join the Albany Regional Museum as we celebrate National Historic Preservation Month with a unique event hosted by our Collections & Exhibits Manager, Amy Bozorth. On May 3rd, from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM, learn how to digitally preserve your family photos using our state-of-the-art scanners. Contribute to preserving Albany’s heritage by adding your scanned images to our digital collection, with your permission. Here’s how to participate: bring up to 10 loose photos (8″x10″ or smaller) and a USB or portable hard drive to save your digital copies. Don’t have photos to bring? No worries! Observe the scanning process, learn techniques for home preservation, and enjoy free admission to our exhibits all day. Don’t miss this chance to save your memories and help preserve the history of Albany!

Our first appearance aims to be memorable, with flexible rolling stops for photos and ticket pickups—perfect whether you’re arriving late or sticking with your crew. We start at 3:30 PM at the Albany Carousel, then move to pick up wine glasses and tickets at 4:00 PM at the corner of 1st Ave. & Ferry. Can & Bottle Drive – Candle Light Vigil
Gather at Bryant Park’s Lower Shelter on Saturday, May 4th, at 7 PM, for a candlelight vigil honoring National Bereaved Mother’s Day and supporting Mental Health Awareness Month. This special evening supports the Center for Healing Under Grief (HUG), which assists parents who have lost a child. Please bring cans or bottles for donation, with all proceeds aiding bereaved parents. Candle lighting will be around sunset (7:30/7:45 PM), and the event will conclude by 9:00 PM. We suggest a $1 donation per candle. “May the 4th be with you” themed costumes are encouraged! Come support this vital cause and discover more about Center4HUG’s mission.
