As summer winds down and local families prepare for the upcoming school year, the Albany Public Schools Foundation (APSF) is inviting the community to take part in a crucial annual tradition: Peely’s Back-to-School Supply Drive.
Running throughout the entire month of August, the drive collects essential classroom and learning materials to restock the shelves of Peely’s Teacher Supply House—a dedicated resource center providing free classroom supplies directly to local educators in the Greater Albany Public School District.
How the Program Helps Albany Classrooms
Named after the Foundation’s official apple mascot, Peely, the supply house helps alleviate out-of-pocket costs for local teachers, ensuring that students across Albany classrooms have the tools they need on day one.
“Throughout the month of August, we need our community’s help donating new, unused, and unopened school supplies to restock our shelves,” notes the Foundation. “These school supplies help us give free school supplies to teachers in the Albany school district!”
Most Needed Items

The Foundation accepts new, unopened school, office, and art supplies. High-demand basics for this year’s drive include:
- Core Student Essentials: #2 pencils, mechanical pencils, 2-pocket folders, spiral and composition notebooks, crayons, colored pencils, and washable markers.
- Classroom Supplies: Dry erase markers, glue sticks, highlighters, erasers, scissors, standard 3-ring binders, and binder dividers.
- Teacher Support Supplies: Disinfectant wipes, Kleenex tissues, hand sanitizer, copy paper, cardstock, post-it notes, tape, and paper clips.
