The entire team at Bentleys Grill & Salem Grand Hotel were fantastic! They were organized and timely right from the beginning of planing our event to the day of. And even after a scheduling misshape on our end, they were able to quickly remedy the situation and offer us a fabulous alternative for our guests! We were very pleased with the quality of service provided to us and highly recommend their venue!
It was a pleasure, as always, to have our Model Court Summit at SCC. The set up was perfect, the staff is professional, available, and awesome. It's a great venue and we look forward to coming back to it every year!
Salem Convention Center was great to work with for our 250+ conference held in May. They were extremely responsive and accommodating during planning. During the event itself, staff were pleasant, efficient, and available to make everything run smoothly.
'-They did not prepare enough food in line with number of guests we had made reservations for. Another item was substituted, but it was not what was ordered, which was disappointing. This of course then also caused delays in the food being served to the last few guests. -The tables were very cluttered with unnecessary items including coffee cups and saucers when coffee was not served. -Parking was inadequate in the number of spaces available and the parking spaces were very tight, even for average size vehicles. -One of the servers was a bit less than professional in her interactions with the guests.
We have the pleasure of hosting this event each year and we wouldn't be able to execute it well without the help of the SCC staff. Customer service comes first, along with a friendly smile and a stiff drink. Thank you SCC and the staff members that make our experience so memorable. 5 Stars
We held a celebration of life for my husband who owned a well-known small business in town. From day one in the planning to execution, Tina and Sarah were great in the details. On the day of the event, not only was the room set up so nicely, the staff went above and beyond in making sure our needs were met. We received fantastic service! Many comments heard from the folks in attendance were on the delicious and fresh food served. My gratitude in making this fun/tearful memorable celebration of his life gone too soon special. I highly recommend them for any event.
Overall really met our expectations. One small hiccup on day 1 with a shortage of plates and utensils for lunch but this was quickly rectified. The staff checked on our needs often and ensured we had the proper setup. A good central location for us.
Sarah Verheyden is professional, kind, and always willing to go above and beyond to ensure our event is ready. She responds quickly and if there's a problem or a hurdle, she always provides another solution rather than saying "no." Thanks to Sarah we have a clear vision of what's expected of us in the planning process and we had no surprises the day of the event. Whatever we needed, Sarah was there to support us and take care of it. The catering staff is so helpful during set up and during the event. I know I can ask any of them for help and they will take care of it or find the right person to help. Thank you so much, Sarah!
We held a two day conference recently and it was very successful due to the amazing attentive staff and wonderful location. From top to bottom, the experience was flawless. Our attendees loved the venue and food. Highly recommend having an event at the Salem Convention Center. We will be back for sure!
Very appreciative of Sarah Verheyden's help in getting our event set up. The night of the event went very well. The wait staff were very attentive and respectful. Whenever I needed something, they were right there to do it and smiled!
My organization held our annual Christmas Party at the Salem Convention Center. The staff went above and beyond to make it a very special evening. Would recommend having an event here!
The Salem Police Association has held their annual Christmas party since the first year of the Convention Center. I have been in charge of coordinating this party since that time also. I find the convention staff so helpful. They are willing to work with whatever our needs are for that particular year. I like working with the same people that are with the convention center, they seem to have a low turnover. They are always most professional. Every year our party gets bigger and better. 2017 was the biggest one held since I have been coordinator. I have already booked our party for 2018. Wishing all staff the happiest of holidays. I organized an all day conference & evening banquet at the Salem Convention Center, and my boss and I were extremely impressed with the level of service and professionalism we experienced. Both the event coordinator and catering manager were excellent to work with via email & phone, and were equally delightful to meet in person. Friendly, responsive, accommodating, and flexible! The event itself was a success, and it was fascinating to watch the catering crew completely transform a room from a business setting to a holiday banquet in less than 20 minutes. Above all, after chatting with several staff at different levels, it was apparent that each employee had only good things to say about the establishment, and genuinely seemed to enjoy working there. It speaks volumes about a place of hospitality when the workers themselves respect the management; How can you take care of guests if you aren't taking care of your own staff? All in all, a great experience! This place will certainly have our business again the next time we are in Salem!
We have held our annual employee holiday brunch at the Salem Convention Center since they first opened. This year we had about 300 people attending and as usual the room was beautiful, set-up perfect, food delicious and staff attentive, friendly, and great to work with. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a venue for a special event!
My organization has its annual conference at the Salem Convention Center and every year we are blown away by their service. They are professional, warm, and incredibly accommodating. Their management staff is great and so is their service staff. Planning is a breeze, and making last minutes changes is painless. And the food is great!
This was our second year in a row hosting our Retirement Expo at the Salem Convention Center. The facility is world class and provides the professional and inviting atmosphere that we were looking for. The SCC staff are constantly available, responsive, and friendly. Sarah is always so supportive, attentive and flexible.
Communication could have been much better- I had to be the one to make the calls, send the emails, follow-up and even start the process once the event had been handed off to the catering manager after the initial conference event sale. Parking was a nightmare the first day due to other events (which we were not notified about nor told about an alternate place to park (which was at least a few blocks away and with all of the conference materials, flipcharts, carts, etc was NOT convenient--there should be a loading and unloading zone that was specifically identified we should have been notified about). We received several complaints about the parking and due to that issue our event started late. We also had complaints about how cold the room was. However, for the most part we received positive comments on the food (except for the 2nd day where the alternative to the meat lasagna was tofu). The room organization and facilities were good and the staff there was very helpful and attentive. Overall, I would have to give mixed reviews...some things went well, some not as much but had there been better communication I think some of the issues could have been avoided or at least addressed...
This was our 6th year at the SCC for our 200 person, 2 and a half day conference. As usual, the service, food and facility exceeded our expectations. We'll be back next year!
I was involved with this event as a planner and participant. The Salem Conference Center is an outstanding facility. The staff went above and beyond to make our experience pleasant and memorable. They are professional, engaged and genuinely care that your needs are met. The facility is well maintained and offers a variety of services. We will definitely use the Salem Conference Center in the future.
