We have held our donor appreciation dinner at the Salem Convention Center for a number of year. This year everything about our event was first class. From the excellent meals, to the incredible attention to detail by the entire staff...but especially our servers, the evening was fabulous.
Normally we have a wonderful time at the Salem Convention Center. This time, we were disrupted by the Salem Rotary luncheon next door, with a jazz band in attendance. We train education personnel from across the state and we had an incredibly difficult time being able to communicate with a very loud jazz band playing enthusiastically next door. Unfortunately they started playing after our lunch time and right when we were getting started with our afternoon session. It was unfortunate that the Rotary didn't think about the effect on all the other meetings going on around them.We lost a good half hour, waiting for the music to be done.
What a great facility. Decor is perfect. Open areas are light and airy. Staff is over the top helpful!!!! Food was also top notch. We will definitely be back.
The building we usually utilize for meeting space was booked, and I considered the Salem Convention Center to be a good replacement. I was not disappointed with the space! The room we were placed in (Santiam 6) had ample room for my group of 35, and could have seated many more in a hollow conference square. <br /> <br /> My group is a major coffee drinking crew (aside from myself), and when I was told that the $35/gal coffee was weak - I immediately found the banquet coordinator. He poured a cup of coffee and said it didn't look weak to him, but they re-brewed the service anyway. The second batch was just as weak. <br /> <br /> Fortunately our meeting started at 10, and many were able to be held over til we had lunch served at noon. We had the taco salad bar and it was GREAT! The fruit was amazing, the salad was great, and the "fixins" were perfect. <br /> <br /> We also had a last minute person want to join by phone, and I appreciate the tech guy's help in getting it set up with little notice. However, our phone attendee hung up prior to the introductions ending because she couldn't hear more than every third word. I understand they have a better conference phone available, but for a $50 phone line rental and a $50 phone rental, I would think phone attendees should be able to hear a bit more on any set up.<br /> <br /> Overall, I think I could recommend the SCC with the added warning to avoid ordering coffee, and to be very aware of what you might need. The room cost was cheaper than the venue I usually utilize (by around $50), but with the added costs of projector screen and media cart (I was able to bring my own projector and laptop), and phone rental costs - it ended up costing much more than my usual space. <br /> <br />
We hold multiple meetings throughout the year and Salem Convention Center has always made it so easy to work with them.<br /> <br /> We look forward to our next event in a few weeks.
With very little notice, Theresa Greco and her team were able to get the Salem Watch Party, for the National College Championship, housed, fed and comfortably seated to watch the game on 2 large screens. She and her staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. I would be very happy to do more events with them.
The Salem Convention Center is a wonderful choice for your next event. The staff was so helpful in showing us our options, being flexible with our needs and the follow up and responsiveness throughout the process was amazing. They have multiple room options, something for every occasion, every size group. We had our party in the largest room upstairs, the main ballroom. The room was great with so many set up/lighting options and food and catering service was great as well!! I would like to specfically thank Merrissa Burleigh and Sarah Utterback for being so helpful in coordinating our Christmas Party.
This was the first time we had our company's Christmas party at the Salem Convention Center. From our initial tour of the venue, we were very impressed with the look of the space. The pricing was very reasonable for all the services we received and we were given many options from food choices to decorations ! I worked with two wonderful ladies, Soraida and Sara to get the venue booked and all arrangements made for our party. The week of the event Sara was out sick and a third lady, Theresa, stepped in to get our needs met which was just wonderful! When we arrived at the space it was all set up and beautifully done so. The monitors outside our room displayed the name of our company and the event. The staff was wonderful and gave great service from the wait staff to the bartenders. I even had one gentleman check in with me at the beginning of the event to make sure everything was satisfactory and that there wasn't anything else we were in need of.<br /> <br /> Only one little hiccup for the evening which was quickly taken care of. The week of the event we switched from one of the smaller rooms to a larger room that had yet to be booked. The night of the party, signs posted on the first floor of the center to show which events were being held in which rooms was never changed to the new room, so we had guests sitting outside the wrong room trying to figure out why they couldn't get in for the party. As soon as we found out about this we alerted the staff and they got it changed to the correct room.<br /> <br /> Great night at a great place!! We would love to come back next year!!
We have had our Holiday Celebration at the Salem Convention Center since 2005 and have not been disappointed. The staff is friendly and always prepared - the meal has been superb - we will be a returning customer.
It is the first time we had our company Christmas Party at Salem Convention Center. Your facilities and staff are the best .. there was no detail overlooked from first booking our event to the evening we were there. The stress of planning an event turned into a simple seamless task and the evening was awesome. Your staff was right there to help with anything we needed, no task was too small or too large. The food was excellent. And having the parking garage close by is another huge bonus. We would highly recommend Salem Convention Center!!
We appreciate the experience we had so much! The service and care provided by staff members and management was beyond amazing. We were always being checked on and asked if we needed anything. The attentiveness and availability of the staff was definitely 5 star service and made our party so enjoyable and worry free. Thank you for taking care of us so well with customer service, food, and room decor. We are always able to come and enjoy ourselves and know that everything is handled. We can't tell you how much that means to us and to the rest of our team. Thank you!
Our company choose to have there annual Holiday Party at the conference center. This is our second year at this location. I have to start this review with the word WOW, <br /> The staff really understands customer service. They helped make the party great, by being on top of everything, checking in with me to make sure that all was going well and if we needed anything. <br /> During the day when we were setting up they were all so helpful and patient with last minute changes and requests. <br /> From the the staff that helped make the initial reservation to the staff that cleaned up, I have nothing but high praise.
I booked a business meeting at the Convention Center over the course of two days. Staff was very accommodating and meeting space was very nice. A few things that impacted my event: 1) When I got to my meeting room to make sure it was ready and set up, I found a gentleman from a different event comfortably hanging out on his phone. I had to start setting up my projector to get his attention enough to hope he'd wrap up his call and move on out. Following his call, he sat there for 5 minutes until I told him I had a meeting starting in less than 15. 2) A larger event in the biggest meeting room across the hall had a bagpipe player . . . that started playing in the middle of my planning session. I think it lasted for a good 5-10 minutes, so our group had to practically yell out during that time. 3) On the first day, before we were even wrapping up the meeting, staff from the convention center attempted to break down the wall in between our meeting room and another. . . and on day 2, staff waited outside the door and rushed in immediately as soon as a few of our guests got up to leave. Would have been nice to have 5 minutes to gather up my things before feeling like I was being shuffled out. I get they have multiple events, but would have appreciated being able to pack my bag to leave without staff charging in. <br /> <br /> My first two issues really aren't related to Convention Center staff, but maybe to be used as a reminder to post something to other Convention center guests to respect other meetings going on. Other thing not a deal breaker. Overall, great visit!

We come together in Salem every three years for our convention and always have excellent accommodations and service from the Salem Convention Center staff. This is one of our favorite places!
We needed a venue the last minute as we had a guest arrive from abroad with little notice. Your staff worked with us and helped us put together something that looked like it had been planned a year before. Thank you for your kindness and willingness to go above and beyond. Wonderful staff!
We so enjoyed your staff and service! From start to finish we were amazed by your friendly, efficient team. The food was delicious and the buffet was hot and ready just as the bride and groom arrived. Thank you for yet another memorable evening!
We held our 3rd annual team planning session at The Grand Hotel & utilized the Convention Center to cater our breakfast. We unanimously LOVED the food options we chose and were thankful especially for those delicious yogurt parfaits!<br /> The only hold back for the 5 star was our order was brought in on carts (with table cloths albeit) - but in years past, a separate table was set up in the Senator Suite we were using. <br /> Otherwise no complaints! Looking forward to coming back next year!
The staff with their customer service and hard work ethic at the Salem Convention Center are top notch. With the help of their fabulous staff and the beauty and ambiance of the Salem Convention Center we have been able to bring our event to another level for our attendees.
There are not enough words for me to use to be able to express the wonderful treatment that we received from the staff of the Convention Center. They were ALL so helpful and accommodating. The TECH was so helpful in getting the setup for the powerpoint and then checking back many times during our banquet to make sure it was working correctly. I am sorry I do not remember or made a note of the young women who was the contact person during the evening but she and her serving staff were EXCELLENT. The food was extremely good and I heard many of our guest rave about it. Thank you so much!!!!!
