On this one experience I would have give 5 stars but when I tried to touch base about 4:30 the day before I wasn't able to get through and left a message with no return phone call. But all went great in the end!!
We attended a wedding here and everything was amazing... Venue ... Staff... Location .... Ease of parking .... The mini fridge and microwave in the room were great to store and heat up left overs from going out .... The room service wine and dessert were amazing .... Some great movie options to stay in and stay cozy as well .... Ever
I've worked with SCC staff for many events and I'm never disappointed. Having SCC host our company Christmas Party was one of the best decisions I've made all year. I can see why they are THE event space in Salem. From getting a quote to booking the space and planning, everything was very simple and straightforward. No hidden fees--everything is easy. Can't wait to be in charge of planning another event! Joe and his team were FANTASTIC! Sarah U. knows her stuff and is very personable--she had me wishing I worked with her regularly.<br /> <br /> I could go on and on but essentially A+. Thank you for all you did for us and what you do for our community!
From pre-planning to event execution the Salem Convention Center was quick to respond and proved itself to be agile and flexible. We hardly ever saw their staff, which is to say they were present when we needed their service or assistance, and then they drifted into the background as our meetings flowed seamlessly. An ever changing headcount for our main event required night before modifications to accommodate additional seating; for the Salem Convention Center -- no problem. Working with the Salem Convention Center felt like a turnkey operation, it was that simple...and that good.
My company had their annual Christmas party at the Salem Convention Center last year and were so pleased we promptly booked it for this year's party. Once again, they did not disappoint! We were really hoping to get the room we had last year, however that room was already booked. They worked with us to get an equivalent room and it was just as beautifully decorated as the year before. I showed up early to help set up our raffle prizes, and they had all the tables already set up, way earlier than we had expected. They moved the Christmas tree to a more visible area so we could enjoy it and have room to take pictures. The gallery area that we also had available to us to use was absolutely beautifully decorated! We were so pleased with the look and took many pictures out there. <br /> <br /> The staff was very helpful in so many ways. One lady (I can't remember her name) who seemed to be in charge of the staff for the evening was very attentive. She approached me at the beginning of the evening, introduced herself, and said she would be around to help with anything we needed. As the alcohol got flowing and many people reached their drinking limit, she so kindly approached me to let me know they would be shutting down the bar and offered to let the few still sober people the chance to get one more drink. She was very professional about the whole thing. I received no complaints about any of the other staff from that evening. <br /> <br /> The food was top notch! Great flavor and temperature. We got the prime rib, the turkey breast, and the ravioli. Everybody seemed to very much enjoy their food. A few complaints about the brussel sprouts, but the mashed potatoes were a delicious side. For dessert we got the chocolate cake and the apple pie. Both were delicious! We would have liked the pie to be warm, but it was still wonderful. <br /> <br /> We definitely recommend this venue! Sarah and Soraida are great women to work with! We will be back next year for sure!!
We have held our annual holiday party for employees and their families here for many years and the venue, service, and food is consistently excellent!
We booked a work holiday party (2015) and everyone from the person who initially answered the phone to the person who finalized our contract were just superb. The food was DELICIOUS. Everyone at the party have made plans to eat at Bentley's in the near future because of it. The room we booked with the help of Sarah and Mellissa was the perfect size for our group. We all thought that the decoration, lighting, and music perfectly fit occasion. Definitely will be recommending Salem Convention Center for all events!

We held our Christmas Party at your facility Friday December 11th and it was amazing! The staff was 5 Star (w/ the exception of the female bartender, she was kind of snappy) and bent over backwards to accommodate our group. At the end of the evening, the owner was giving $100 tips to the staff and there was one server who approached the owner for her tip, but I had not seen her helping w/ our event the entire night. Could she have come from serving at another party held that night when she heard there was a drunk owner handing out $100 bills?? I recognized "our" servers over the course of the evening, but this particular female server I'd never seen before.<br /> I tend to be a "micro-manager" and the staff helping at our party was patient, attentive and so helpful.<br /> On our contract, it was stated that the owner like a particular drink. Sarah had it clearly written on the contract, but the bar did not have his favorite Christian Brothers brandy, Kahlua, and the coffee was not particularly hot. While I was in the food line, it was brought to my attention that the owner didn't have his drink of choice. I found a staff member, explained our problem , and he promptly ran "across the street" to get the owner the brandy he favored! So, like I said, the staff was 5 star!!<br /> The food was amazing...w/ the exception of the very rare prime rib. The end cuts were great, but I heard a lot of complaints that the prime rib was just too rare for most people. We have prime rib at every Christmas party, so the employees are used to it being more on the rare side than traditional meat, but in this case, it was just a bit too red for people's preference. The rest of the food though, was top notch. There was plenty, it was hot and the turkey was the best many people have ever had!<br /> I didn't see coffee or tea displayed for consumption like the contract stated. Perhaps I didn't see it, but I asked other employees after the party, and they didn't see it either???<br /> The tables were decorated perfectly, it would have been nice to have steak knives since prime rib was served. People had to us their butter knives! The staff was spot on when breaking down a couple of tables when it was time to dance, and assured me they could take tables away quickly if the extra tables weren't needed as I was worried that my head count was off. <br /> I heard that the dessert and appetizers were good however, I regretfully didn't have any of these.<br /> People who stayed @ the hotel after the party raved about the nice hotel rooms & staff.<br /> All in all, our party was wonderful, made particularly amazing by the staff & facility!<br /> Thank you to Sarah and ALL who helped make our event our best Christmas to date!
My husband and I chose the Grand Hotel Boardroom at the Salem Convention Center for our small wedding reception. What we got for the very reasonable price was amazing! Bentley's Grill catered our event, and the food was great. The room was all decorated for Christmas on our special day and looked perfect. The service was fantastic! The friendly staff took care of everything. They set up the room just as we wanted, and even arranged our wedding cupcakes beautifully for us. Our servers were there throughout the whole event with smiles on their faces, and were great from beginning to end! They were professional and fun, and always made sure our guests had what they needed. One of our servers, Crystal, was above and beyond fantastic! She was so fun and worked really hard to make our day special. I would definitely recommend the Salem Convention Center to anyone who needs a venue for an event, and I would especially recommend it to any brides out there!
We have had our holiday party at the Salem convention center for years! It was great, as always! The room, service, everything, down to the table decorations! Our room coordinator was awesome, and kept checking in with me to see if I needed anything. And one of the ladies busing our tables, went above and beyond and found me a piece of carrot cake for my best friend (her favorite dessert), since we weren't having it. It was another great year and we defiantly will be back next year!
Our company comes back year after year for our holiday party. We always get great service from the time we start our reservation and it continues throughout our event. The delicious food and room decor have never disappointed us either.
We always use the Salem Convention Center for our quarterly meetings. The staff are easy to work with and do anything they can to make sure we have a good experience.
Thank you, everyone, who worked so hard to make our training a success. From food to facilities to lodging, everything went as planned. The flexibility of the staff, and ability to keep in close communication with someone planning from afar, make the Salem Convention Center a great place to host any type of meeting.
I produce Bridal shows in 5 different venues in Oregon and the Salem Convention Center is my favorite venue. Their whole staff is all about customer service and pride in their workplace and it shows. They are genuinely happy to help with anything they can do to make the time we are at their facility the best experience they can possibly make it for us.
When we first spoke with Theresa - Convention Center Coordinator we anticipated our symposium to have around 100 attendees and wanted to get into our room at Noon for a 2pm kick-off. At first, about 6 weeks prior we learned that our room had been given to another group - but moving things around we still have our original requested set-up. The morning of our conference I received a phone call stating that there was a group ahead of us and we would not be able to set-up until 1:15pm. Our registration processes was to begin at 1:30pm. The room had to cleaned and reset as we requested in 15 minutes. While this turn over did happen quickly it did not provide time to trouble-shoot the A/V, prepare the Presenters for our set-up. everything was just too rushed and unnecessary. I had several Vendors with displays and they could not set-up at 1pm as I had told them and was not ready when conference participants began to arrive. We had requested that the water, coffee stations be refreshed as needed. Coffee ran out, no cups, no creamer. When we asked - we were told at first that it was already done. When we said No, it was not done - they said they needed to make more coffee which of course, took a long time when people were waiting for it. At dinner time, we asked about 5:15pm if dinner was about to come out. Our dinner was slated for 5:30pm. At 5:30 pm I and several others had to take the wrap off trays and staff came running with the hot items. We did run out of food even though I asked to make sure I had enough. Staff was very helpful in getting more center pieces for us as we had a lot of last minute registrations. I again, let Theresa know our attendance was up and again - did I order enough food? We had to go to the office several times to ask for things which made us feel like we were bothering them. After 5pm there was no one to contact except catering staff and they just would just shrug their shoulders which was not helpful to us and made them feel inadequate to meet the needs of their guests. I feel like the Convention Center knows they are about the only place in Salem to hold large conferences so they really don't care much once the reservation has been made. Parking was a real issue as well. We had some people that just drove away after they found out how far away they had to park. Also, not a safe place for ladies leaving in the dark and rain to walk to by themselves. Overall conference evaluations confirmed a huge problem with parking. This is an annual activity for Salem Hospital and we will look at other options for next year.
Thank you Salem Convention Center, The Grand Hotel and all it's fantastic staff, for another successful event. I have booked two events with SCC this year, and I can't say thank you enough, for making everything run flawlessly. The social event we had earlier in the year was perfect! The food was excellent and bountiful, and the servers were exceptional and very polite. The AV group had everything running smooth, so there weren't any unwanted surprises. Our most recent business meeting went great! The room was set up well in advance and food/beverages were nicely arranged. I am so pleased with everything from start to finish. The Sales and Catering Managers were very professional, helpful, efficient and a pleasure to work with. Thanks again for a great job!
We have been using the SCC for three years now and are so glad we made the move over there. They take care of everything! Center pieces, AV equipment, Sound and food. It has made our setup and take down so efficient. The staff is great and very attentive. Hope to be coming back here every year!
The parking was easy to get into and out of and the building was easy to move around and find things.
We have had our Convention here twice in the past three years ... The staff was very professional, helpful and friendly ... We will be planning on attending every other year here for our State Convention and the off years in a different city of the state ... The food was great, staff was great and location with the hotel side is perfect for us ... We are a non profit so the price is a little high for us, however the venue was excellent and we plan on coming back for sure ... The management prior to the conference was very helpful on helping us with our set up and menus items ... Great job all in all ...
