Our company comes back year after year for our holiday party. We always get great service from the time we start our reservation and it continues throughout our event. The delicious food and room decor have never disappointed us either.
We always use the Salem Convention Center for our quarterly meetings. The staff are easy to work with and do anything they can to make sure we have a good experience.
Thank you, everyone, who worked so hard to make our training a success. From food to facilities to lodging, everything went as planned. The flexibility of the staff, and ability to keep in close communication with someone planning from afar, make the Salem Convention Center a great place to host any type of meeting.
I produce Bridal shows in 5 different venues in Oregon and the Salem Convention Center is my favorite venue. Their whole staff is all about customer service and pride in their workplace and it shows. They are genuinely happy to help with anything they can do to make the time we are at their facility the best experience they can possibly make it for us.
When we first spoke with Theresa - Convention Center Coordinator we anticipated our symposium to have around 100 attendees and wanted to get into our room at Noon for a 2pm kick-off. At first, about 6 weeks prior we learned that our room had been given to another group - but moving things around we still have our original requested set-up. The morning of our conference I received a phone call stating that there was a group ahead of us and we would not be able to set-up until 1:15pm. Our registration processes was to begin at 1:30pm. The room had to cleaned and reset as we requested in 15 minutes. While this turn over did happen quickly it did not provide time to trouble-shoot the A/V, prepare the Presenters for our set-up. everything was just too rushed and unnecessary. I had several Vendors with displays and they could not set-up at 1pm as I had told them and was not ready when conference participants began to arrive.
We had requested that the water, coffee stations be refreshed as needed. Coffee ran out, no cups, no creamer. When we asked - we were told at first that it was already done. When we said No, it was not done - they said they needed to make more coffee which of course, took a long time when people were waiting for it. At dinner time, we asked about 5:15pm if dinner was about to come out. Our dinner was slated for 5:30pm. At 5:30 pm I and several others had to take the wrap off trays and staff came running with the hot items. We did run out of food even though I asked to make sure I had enough.
Staff was very helpful in getting more center pieces for us as we had a lot of last minute registrations. I again, let Theresa know our attendance was up and again - did I order enough food?
We had to go to the office several times to ask for things which made us feel like we were bothering them. After 5pm there was no one to contact except catering staff and they just would just shrug their shoulders which was not helpful to us and made them feel inadequate to meet the needs of their guests.
I feel like the Convention Center knows they are about the only place in Salem to hold large conferences so they really don't care much once the reservation has been made.
Parking was a real issue as well. We had some people that just drove away after they found out how far away they had to park. Also, not a safe place for ladies leaving in the dark and rain to walk to by themselves. Overall conference evaluations confirmed a huge problem with parking.
This is an annual activity for Salem Hospital and we will look at other options for next year.
Thank you Salem Convention Center, The Grand Hotel and all it's fantastic staff, for another successful event. I have booked two events with SCC this year, and I can't say thank you enough, for making everything run flawlessly. The social event we had earlier in the year was perfect! The food was excellent and bountiful, and the servers were exceptional and very polite. The AV group had everything running smooth, so there weren't any unwanted surprises. Our most recent business meeting went great! The room was set up well in advance and food/beverages were nicely arranged. I am so pleased with everything from start to finish. The Sales and Catering Managers were very professional, helpful, efficient and a pleasure to work with. Thanks again for a great job!
We have been using the SCC for three years now and are so glad we made the move over there. They take care of everything! Center pieces, AV equipment, Sound and food. It has made our setup and take down so efficient. The staff is great and very attentive. Hope to be coming back here every year!
We have had our Convention here twice in the past three years ... The staff was very professional, helpful and friendly ... We will be planning on attending every other year here for our State Convention and the off years in a different city of the state ... The food was great, staff was great and location with the hotel side is perfect for us ... We are a non profit so the price is a little high for us, however the venue was excellent and we plan on coming back for sure ... The management prior to the conference was very helpful on helping us with our set up and menus items ... Great job all in all ...
Thank you Salem Convention Center. From the beginning, the staff has been so helpful. Both before the event happens and after we are there. Onsite staff was always available to adjust anything we needed, from more ice water to lowering the cold air.
The food is really good, and here is always plenty.
I have put together conferences and business meetings, from the short and sweet to the days long. I always have some kind of "issue". The pros at the Salem Convention Center made SURE beforehand that there were no "issues" and we were smooth sailing all the way. Comfortable and efficient. Great way to run a business. Thank you.
Donna Earley and Theresa Greco were great to work with. They were very helpful and had everything set-up perfectly for our meeting.
Compliments to the chef. The food was great and well received by our attendees. Presentation and selection was really good.
I would and will definitely recommend the Salem Convention Center for meetings.
We originally started out with our Board Meeting at The Grand Hotel connected with you. Kristi Reed was instrumental in helping us transition to the Convention Center for our members lunch meeting. Kristi Reed and Donna Earley are a great combination to work with.
We have held our annual steward summit at the Salem Convention Center twice now. Both times we have been delighted with the service, the staff, and the food. Can't wait for the next one.
Sarah and Merrissa are absolutely wonderful to work with along with the servers. I had a couple of areas that I would do differently next year. First, the meat was too red for many of the people. I take responsibility for that because I meant to request ahead of time that it be done medium to medium well. Second it was suggested that we use half the room so that it would look fuller. That would have been fine except with that set-up the people on the right side couldn't see the screen. My biggest concern was that the wedding in the room next door had way too loud of a speaker system and it was overflowing into our room during our program. But, overall it was a wonderful event. The facility is beautiful, the staff is outstanding, and I believe it is the only place in town where you can have a group that size without having to make them go through a buffet line.
In the 5th year of our annual conference relationship ...
... we probably had the best year. Everything was as ordered. The staff was cheerful, helpful and prompt to respond to requests for help. Food service was very highly regarded. Through this large and complex convention, the SCC management staff supported us seamlessly. Kudos.
The Salem Convention Center has been the home of our company's yearly meeting for our franchise owners. The staff is always friendly and helpful and accommodates even the smallest, last minute schedule adjustments with understanding and grace. The food is wonderful and artfully arranged. We plan to return for many years to come.
Everything went well in this graduation party held for my daughter. It was very easy to pull together the event in 2 weeks notice. We got lucky too there was a room available. The planning went easy. Bently's restaurant catered the event and we were happy with the food. Sarah's suggestions was a big help. The two assigned waiter/waitress did an excellent service so did the tech lady. The boardroom was perfect for the event for 40 people. It is equipped with everything you need for slide shows, videos etc..
Overall it was perfect. If I have another event too big to do at home, I will surely do it again there. It was a stress free party!!! BTW the wines choosen was a perfect pairing.....
The staff at the Salem Convention Center, are top-notch. They are friendly, efficient and really value their clients. Our event was smooth, and worry free. The venue was beautiful and it made for a special evening. I would recommend the Salem Convention Center and its staff to anyone that is contemplating having an event there, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Salem Convention Center.
