Her Path Into Healthcare

Dr. Emily grew up on the East Coast in a family deeply rooted in medicine and science.

“My father’s actually a veterinarian,” she shared. “I’ve always been very interested in medicine, science—we’re a pretty heavy medicine/science family. My dad’s a veterinarian, my brother and sister are veterinarians. So I was kind of the weirdo that went into human medicine.”

While medicine may have been in her DNA, her love for children shaped her direction. She taught horseback riding lessons, babysat often, and always gravitated toward working with kids. During medical school, her pediatric rotations confirmed what she already suspected.

“I definitely feel like that’s where I thrive,” she said. “I tend to be a little silly and pretty enthusiastic with kids and you know, 3-4-year-olds, even the babies, get excited and that makes me happy.”

That joy ultimately guided her to complete three years of pediatric residency training in Rochester, New York, and dedicate her career to caring for children.

Her Role at WFMC Health

Dr. Nebzydoski’s sole focus at WFMC Health is pediatrics, seeing children from birth up until around 18. Her days include well-child visits, sick visits, and everything in between.

One of her favorite parts of the job is watching her patients grow over time. “It’s also just fun to do well visits with them and see how they’re growing from birth all the way to a teenager.”

Since joining WFMC Health, she has especially enjoyed building long-term relationships with families.

“I get to see families that I’ve seen before and babies that I saw in July are now six months old. It’s nice to have that with the families and already know their background and be able to just go in the room and pick up where you left off.”

That continuity of care is something she deeply values.

How She Cares for Patients

For Dr. Emily, pediatric care is about more than checkups and diagnoses. It’s about trust.

When asked how she hopes families feel after a visit, she shared, “I hope that they feel heard, that they’re comfortable with me caring for their child, and they feel like they can ask me anything.”

She is especially intentional about creating a safe, non-judgmental space for both parents and adolescents.

“I really try to make sure they know they can tell me anything and that nothing’s really surprising to me. I’d rather them be truthful with me than not.”

She aims to meet families where they are, whether she’s working with first-time parents full of questions or seasoned parents who prefer a quicker visit.

“Hopefully I meet their needs or meet them where they’re at in their child’s life.”

What You Can Expect as a Patient

When you walk into an appointment with Dr. Emily, you can expect warmth, attentiveness, and a provider who genuinely enjoys being there.

She makes a point to engage directly with her young patients, especially once they are old enough to answer for themselves. “Once they’re like three, four years old, I usually start asking them the questions.”

You can also expect honesty, encouragement, and space to ask every question. Dr. Nebzydoski understands that parenting looks different at every stage, and she works to make each visit feel comfortable and unrushed.

Her goal is simple: that you leave feeling supported and confident in your child’s care.

“I just hope that they know how much I truly love my job and I hope that comes off in my interactions with them.”

Why WFMC Health Matters to Her

Dr. Nebzydoski appreciates the collaborative, community-focused environment at WFMC Health.

“I think they care a lot about their patients, but I also think they care about their staff a lot too. And I think that makes for a more pleasant experience from the start to the finish of the visit.”

She values the teamwork across specialties, from family medicine providers and midwives to lactation support and referral staff.

“I think it’s pretty cohesive and everyone works really well together, no matter their specialty or what they do.”

That strong sense of collaboration allows her to provide comprehensive and coordinated care to the families she serves.

A Little More About Dr. Emily

Outside the clinic, Dr. Emily embraces Oregon’s outdoors. “Honestly, probably the outdoor aspect is what prompted me to move out here.”

She hikes, backpacks, camps, and explores the region with her almost eight-year-old black lab. She also enjoys reading groups, going to the gym, baking, cooking, and connecting with community groups.

One thing that might surprise her patients? “I used to show quarter horses competitively growing up,” and she has been horseback riding since she was four years old.

A Warm Welcome

Above all, Dr. Nebzydoski hopes her patients and their families feel her genuine love for her work.

“I just hope that they know how much I truly love my job and I hope that comes off in my interactions with them.”

She adds, “I truly do care about their kids, my patients.”

At WFMC Health, that kind of heartfelt commitment makes all the difference.
