Sump Pump Installation to Address Water in Basement

We were experiencing water coming up from the ground into our basement. The team installed a french drain to a sump pump that ties into the existing above ground drainage system. They disassembled old built in shelves to cut into the cement floor and excavated outside the house to connect the drainage. They also dug out the window well that was not the source of the water but to make sure it will not be in the future. They communicated what they were doing and when they would be finished. It was a two-day job and they finished on schedule. They put the outside back together and were careful with the shelves so we could put them back together. They did a great job of cleaning up both days. And the basement already feels less damp. Thank you!

Foundation Leak Solution from the Inside-Out

We had about 80 feet of foundation wall with varying degrees of water leakage. We broke it up into 4 separate jobs over time. The WCS crews came in each time, friendly and polite, and laid down precautions to protect our home. They worked steadily over a couple days and the water issues were gone. Only in one instance did I ask the crew to return when we learned that a little more effort was needed to "plug and urethane" to make sure, before reinstalling a finish wall over the restored area. It has been a real pleasure to work with everyone (sales, office and onsite crews) to resolve the issues we had for over a decade. I highly recommend WCS for foundation restoration and water proofing.

I had evidence of water seepage in my basement and one support that was not actually supporting the weight of the house. Western Construction Systems made a really reasonable bid (less than another bid I got) and did the work well with a crew of several, so it was efficient and didn't take long. They were careful to not track dirt in the house, and they cleaned up after themselves. Tyler was very responsive and communicative. I would happily use them again!

Indoor French Drain

This was our 2nd job by Western Construction Systems and an easy choice based on their successful Urethane Foam Injection repair of two entire walls ten years ago. The new issue was the failure of the original 1938 terracotta drainage along the front of the house under a 30 foot by 5 foot wide concrete porch. Tyler Reitzer’s (job superintendent) elegant solution to move the French Drain to just inside the vertical wall below the basement floor capturing and directing seepage with “Drain Board” and “Wicking Fabric” to the original sump. I had my doubts when the Scope of Project estimated 2 days, but Juan, Bud and a third guy whose name escapes me (fast motor, intense urgency) stopped to lunch day one I was impressed to find the defining cuts and much of the breaking were done. Day two, trench cleaned, graveled, pipe socked and laid, graveled up to cover and mortared flush to the floor. A new sump pump was installed with an improved disconnect-reconnection shut off. These guys know “what’s next” and focus on that with no slack and yet Juan (crew lead) very patiently and concisely answered all questions. That the crew ten years ago was also impressively efficient leads me to believe that personnel at WCS are particularly well selected, trained and motivated…un-Disrupted Old School Service!

Quick, helpful, affordable

We had a wet crawlspace and Tyler was the only one of several contractors who inspected the area to determine that the problem was with our vent wells and drainage in our side yard. He was able to find a solution that was less expensive and more effective then the other contractors. His team did the work quickly and well. We were happy with the whole process.

Good crew and Job

Very satisfied with the crew and work done on the cracks in our foundation. The crew was quick, quiet, and tidy. (Even saving and replacing the small patch of "lawn" by the side of the house when digging holes to expose the cracks.) The job looked very clean with the right amount of material. The exterior work was blended as well as possible with the old foundation.

Access to our crawlspace is through a hatch in the master closet - not the most convenient thing - but the crew (Juan, Frank and Eli) dealt with this without complaint, making sure that the flooring and surrounding areas were protected. If we have need for their services in the future I would absolutely hire Western Construction again.

Excellent service

Techs prepped area in house carefully to limit debris/mud on this rainy day. Managed to get two large steel beams into the crawlspace hole without having to cut out foundation vent screens. Kept me informed of their process and cleaned up completely afterwards. Very happy with the repair

They came and did some tricky fixing at my old house, and they did a great job of it! The initial inspector was very knowledgeable and easy to talk with, and the crews that showed up to do the work were excellent, hard working and did a great job of tricky repairs. Sorry I ever used them

Buying a 1925 home the end of 2021 our realtor called them in to help when water intrusion was detected in finished basement. Tyler took a look, found two horizontal cracks and assured me they could fix those and told me foundation was in better shape than most he saw. We proceeded to buy the house and had Tyler fix the crack. Then the atmospheric rivers came. Water was pouring in, pooling in utility room, oozing through the floor boards. When they finally came back to look I was now told "the crack repairs are good, you have water seeping in along the base of foundation. We couldn't know that because it was behind the finished walls." If they had been thorough to start with I would have been able to negotiate some contingencies with sellers. Instead I am jammed up with bills to demolish the water damaged areas and to properly fix the ongoing water intrusion. They're response was pretty much a caveat emptor.

Quick, Efficient, Courteous and Friendly

We are very pleased with the work and happy WCS sent a crew with enough people to get the job done in the two days promised. The outside of our 1941 foundation was cracked and pitted with some deterioration due to plant roots and past water damage. They had a very neat trench dug around the whole house in what seemed less than an hour. They worked steadily, answering our curious questions as they came up. It looks completely smooth now. They were considerate of my plants as much as humanly possible and tidied up completely before leaving. Great to work with. We have another job for them to do in our basement. An impressed passerby took a picture of their truck so he could contact them. We highly recommend.

Professional and personable

My basement had been flooding for years and I had put off dealing with it. Just shop-vaced up the water and moved everything off the floor. But when I met with Tyler from Western, accepted their bid and witnessed their work, I was impressed. He and his crew answered my every question cheerfully and completely. They worked hard digging the trench, carrying out pieces of the foundation floor and buckets of heavy, clay soil, laying the pipe in a calculated way so that all the water it collected would flow to the sump pump, which they installed and explained to me in detail. A week later, my basement no longer smelled musty and the walls have continued to dry out in this warmer weather. I know I will rest easier this winter and that if I have any questions at all, Western will be there to answer them.
