West Coast Strength

A year ago I was a total gym newbie and had only just started lifting dumbbells at home. I knew I wanted to get serious about fitness and resistance training, but needed a gym I felt comfortable going to as a 42 year old woman with a trainer that could work with a total beginner. After reading some reviews here and driving by a few times, I signed up for a trial membership. Working with my trainer, Seth, has been nothing short of transformational. Seth really met me where I was, has been infinitely patient teaching me the basics, continues to challenge me and helped me fall in love with lifting. I've been happy to find that there are usually 30-50% women working out in the weight room (at least when I'm there) and most seem to be 35+. The facility is always super clean and the staff friendly and helpful. I also really appreciate that there are regular events that pull gym members together like body transformation challenges, 5k runs for charity and holiday present drives. I was so grateful for the reviews that led me to WCS last year, I had to add my experience here for others who are on their own fitness journey looking for a welcoming gym in the Salem area!

Been going here since they opened! Awesome gym, I absolutely love it. What I like most is that everyone minds their own business. I’ve gone to other gyms where literally people stare at each other and it feels uncomfortable. Awesome equipment and well taken care of. You won’t regret coming here!

Dropped into this gym while I was visiting from out of town. Friendly/helpful/professional staff and gym was literally SPOTLESS. You could eat off the floor. Great equipment that was organized and very well kept. You can really tell they take pride in this facility. As someone who managed gyms for a long time, I was extremely impressed. I wish my town had a gym like this. I’ll be back next time I’m in Salem.
