“We’ll get you to #1 on Google.”

If you own a successful local service business, there’s a good chance someone has called or emailed you with that promise.

Our advice? Consider it a red flag.

The truth is, reputable local SEO doesn’t come with guaranteed #1 rankings. Google’s search results are influenced by competition, location, relevance, your website, your Google Business Profile, reviews, authority, and plenty of other factors that no marketing company controls.

What good local SEO can do is put the right pieces in place and improve them consistently over time.

That includes keeping your Google Business Profile accurate and active, strengthening your website’s local relevance, building authority, monitoring performance, responding to changes, and continually looking for opportunities to improve your visibility.

And yes, it takes time.

For established local service businesses, local SEO should be viewed as an ongoing investment in your market presence, not a switch someone flips to magically put you at the top of Google next week.

At Third River Marketing, we’d rather set realistic expectations and build a strategy designed for sustainable growth than sell you a ranking promise nobody can honestly guarantee.
