I received the exact same check yesterday. It was drawn on a Wells Fargo account or Cashiers check, it looked bogus, so I called the phone number given, it sounded bogus as well. I will destroy it, it's a felony to deposit the check, deposit account fraud.I mean who mails you a check and ask you to deposit and keep a portion. Then notify them when you complete the instructions? A crook !!
