I came in from out of state with a little training under my two stripe white belt ;) Not only has my discipline leveled up, but my fitness and mental awareness have surpassed my expectations. The coaching is amazing, comprehensive, and essential. I look forward to instruction just as much as I look forward to open mat rolls. We are always working towards a series in instruction, yet can jump in anytime. Which is the genius of Coach Cory! The competition is legit as most all compete and steadily win and place in competitions, yet rolls are always respectful and welcoming. The upper belts are always willing to roll with the lowers to help everyone level up. No one ever seems “too cool” to approach. The welcoming and the camaraderie of the entire gym is in itself a great way to hang with the crew. Whether you are seasoned vet or new and curious, there is absolutely no reason for you to not reach out to Cory or any of the other coaches to come and find your place on the mat at Phoenix MMA! See you there!

Phoenix MMA is more than just a gym , it’s a community and family ! From the 1st day of class you feel safe, Confident in asking questions because everyone is willing to help and answer them with enthusiasm. The coaching staff is AMAZING! They make you feel comfortable by providing great techniques and explaining them in a way both expert’s and rookies can understand! What separates Phoenix from other gyms is the culture ! You can be a white belt rolling with a black belt and not be worried about them trying to rip your face off , it’s a great cultured gym that emphasizes the mix of great technique, toughness and fun! I’ve tried many gym here in Nashville and can confidently say Phoenix MMA is by far the best !
I'm from out of town and attended Phoenix with a friend of mine who has been going there for nearly a year. She had told me often how great the gym was and I have to say, she wasn't exaggerating. I rarely take the time to write reviews but I feel that the Phoenix crew earned it. The gym atmosphere is active but not overbearing with clear interpersonal respect and no posturing egos. The students are amiable and pleasant but also clearly motivated to work hard and learn. The instructors/owners are friendly and inclusive (Cory and Eric were the ones teaching while I was there). Their knowledge is evident and they are adept at adapting demonstrations and instruction to meet each student at their level, incorporating beginners to advanced into each session. More advanced students will often provide encouragement and feedback to newer students as well. I generally dislike the whole "gym vibe" and avoid social/group exercise when possible but the Phoenix had such a nonjudgmental atmosphere that it was really an enjoyable experience. I hadn't expected to say this but if I didn't live 2,000 miles away I would absolutely attend this gym.
