Maddox Woods is another gem of a place with some local lore. Part of the Willamete River Greenway Trail it's a good place to start a walk. If you just want to get a little fresh air and walk fido it's a great choice. I like to park near the library and take Dorthy's Library Trail.

Such a peaceful hidden gem! Maddax Woods offers a quiet, relaxing atmosphere with a beautiful water view and a lovely garden full of greenery. Perfect for a calming walk or a moment of reflection. We love visiting this spot whenever we need a break from the busy day. Highly recommended! – Om Massage
This park is great! It's extremely small and located at the end of a neighborhood. There isn't much parking at all... The path down to the water is a very old boat launch that is rather steep and should be walked down slowly! Once down you have to climb over the rails of the old boat launch and some bigger rocks to get to the where you can set up/put down your stuff. (Make sure you place your belongings far enough up away from the shore line so that if the tide comes in your stuff doesn't end up in the water 🫣🤭) The water is a bit murky with what my daughters refer to as "riverweed" which is like seaweed but in the river 😜 there are a few big logs in the water close to the shore that my kids like to play on. There is not much of a current making it a safe place to swim and the water is not very deep at all even during high tide adding to the safety of the area. 🥰 WHY I LOVE THIS SPOT besides the water safety is mainly due to the lack of people! The most people there at once was maybe like 9 🥳 and there is plenty of room to be spaced out! The woods are absolutely beautiful. I haven't tried the hiking trails yet but they look gorgeous and very well kept just like the rest of the area! There are 2 nice picnic tables on opposite sides of each other making them more private. So main things to keep in mind... 1. Very small not much parking at all 2. At the end of a nice neighborhood 3. Steep incline down an old boat ramp to get to water that needs to be walked slowly and then climbed over carefully. 4. Beautiful wooded hiking trails 5. 2 Picnic tables on opposite sides of one another 6. Very slow current making it a safe place to swim 7. Rocky banks made out of smaller rocks with some sandy/muddy areas as well 8. Not crowded 9. Not recommended for small children or someone with a disability! PLEASE keep this park clean and beautiful by taking out EVERYTHING you brought in, including ALL trash!!! THANK YOU!!! - Our Family
Nice little place for a picnic by the river. Little parking lot. By the house there is a picnic table by the river. Walk down the path and there is a trail down to the waters edge. Connects to other trail system, to a park and playground. Lots of wildlife, including deer sightings. During the winter holiday,it is a great walk, especially for young kiddos. They light up the forest, and have a hunt for the kids. Great year round walking park.
Cool little spot to spend an hour. They have a port a potty, dog poop bags and several picnic tables. They have a large sign which shows some of the history of the boat building that took place here. It is a short walk to the river where we saw small fish, crawdads and a snake in the water. There is a nice forest trail that goes down to burnside park as well and another that goes to the library.
