Let start by what was really good mashed potatoes, red cabbage, pork schnitzel, cucumbers and german potato salad. What was so so but fresh green beans, veal jager, and the gravy. The gravy tasted like they used a browning mix instead of doing it the real way and it was pretty thin. I review alot so don't forget to follow

5 Star Review By M K

As a German-American and a regular February “snowbird” to North Myrtle Beach, Horst Gasthaus has been on my to do list for a number of years, but something always came up and it didn’t happen. Well, very happy to say that this year I was able to finally dine there with my wife and younger son. I was hoping that Spaten, my favorite, would be on tap, but Hey, you can’t have everything! There were four other German drafts to pick from, and Warsteiner was a good substitute! I started with a very good onion soup that like most places was smothered in cheese which I believe is unnecessary and actually takes away from the enjoyment of the broth and onions. HG has excellent rye bread, and a slice of this was under the cheese. Our main courses were Wiener Schnitzel with German potato salad and marinated cucs, Bavarian Goulash with red cabbage, and Sauerbraten with red cabbage and bread dumpling. All three entrees were wundervoll as is said auf Deutsch!!! Most enjoyable and tasty in English. We capped off our experience with three orders of home-made apple strudel which was filled with apples but surprisingly not many raisins? It was a little pricey at $10 a serving, but… Speaking of prices, they were reasonable for the quality and portion size of everything else. Ambiance was like an old shoe, comfortable and laid back. The Thursday night that we visited the clientele was mostly older (possibly locals) with a few families present and a few birthdays to celebrate. Our service was first rate, and the whole crew seemed to operate as a well oiled machine. While we had to wait a few times for plates to be cleared, the check to be presented, and then processed, it was clear that the waitress for our area was getting drinks, serving hot food etc. for other tables during that time. So we didn’t mind, especially after she acknowledged the delay and apologized for it. In closing, based on other reviews and my observations, I strongly recommend making a reservation even in the “off” season just to be on the safe side. Now that we know how good the Horst Gasthaus is, we will definitely be back again this February and Februaries in the future!!!
