1-Star Review of High Performance Homes
Some HPH reps came to my door offering a free roof inspection. I scheduled an inspection and asked for a bid. I told them we would not choose to buy that day, but would research it with other bids. They said it would take 60-90 minutes. It ended up taking almost 2 hours, with a long presentation about the quality of the company and products and then a bid that was literally DOUBLE other bids I got. The bid started out over $30,000 and with discounts and incentives to buy that day, it lowered to $26,000. Another legitimately vetted competitor bid $13,000 for the same job. They also said there was a lot of organic growth in the attic when another estimator said there was none. There were a lot of high pressure sales tactics used to try to get the sale that day (i.e. ask lots of questions looking for a "Yes" answer, discounts and incentives to make a quick unresearched decision, repeated appeals to product quality, calling someone on the phone to look for additional discounts, etc.). We were courteous and repeatedly told them we would not buy that day and were concerned with the high price. I cannot speak to their quality of work. Hopefully it is great. This review is for anyone else who is researching HPH to see if getting a bid from them is worth their time. For us, it definitely wasn't.
