Cataract Surgery

Easy check in. Even though they do this procedure multiple times a day, they made me feel like I was the first one. They were friendly and kind throughout the whole procedure. It was easy and moved along quickly.

Cataract Surgerical Care

I appreciated the quality of care I received at the Eye Care Physicians & Surgeons, in preparation of, during and after the cataract surgery that I had on both of my eyes. From the Dr. Betsy McDowell's diagnosis and staff's connection to the Dr. Richard Neahring's team, and surgery at the Salem Laser and Surgery Center, all of my concerns were addressed with the greatest of professtional customer service. The specific directions throughout the whole process, gave me peace. While I still have 6 days of eye drops to be put in, before my surgery healing is complete, it brings me comfort that I can see much better without my old glasses than with them. It is a blessing to have received enough eyedrop medicine to cover both surgeries. It's my hope that Dr. Betsy McDowell will give me a prescription for my new glasses during my next visit this Monday, March 2nd, as it is hard for me to see what is near. I appreciate the thoroughness in every step of the procedural process and the genuine kindness that I received, at each phase.

Finding Out How My Eyes Are Doing

The examinations were conducted quickly and efficiently, and the people I interacted with were friendly and helpful. I left feeling confident that I'd received excellent care.

Care regarding glaucoma & cataracts

Dr. Warner provides excellent care to stave off glaucoma and cataracts as much as possible.

Good solid, not spectacular care

The front desk staff is mixed; some provide a warm greeting and some could care less about welcoming customers/patients. The vision assistants are consistently good; the last one I met, who was new to me, was superb. The medical care may be bland, but it is superior w/ largely accurate information provided. -jim sumner

Mixed review,

I like Dr McDowell and her staff. No issues with them. My issue is with your scheduling staff. Issue #1, it is typically at least an hour to sit in the reception area before I get to the doctor, this time, close to two hours. My big gripe however is that for the first time my wife agreed to an exam at the same time with your firm. I scheduled the appointments. I told your scheduler to code BOTH appointments as medical appointments reference cataracts. At the desk I paid my $40 copay. When my wife found a parking spot ?, I paid her copay as a separate transaction. She has a different last name, that concept was too complicated for your staff. I received a $40 Check in the mail as an overpayment. My wife however received a $200 bill, saying her eye exam was declined by her insurance stating she did not have vision coverage. We knew that. We called and requested it be resubmitted as a medical claim for a cataract check, just like mine. That request was declined, with the statement that her appointment needed to originally be scheduled for that. IT WAS, THAT IS EXACTLY THE APPOINTMENT I REQUESTED WHEN I SCHEDULED THE APPOINTMENT. I will pay the $200, however, the cataract surgery I anticipate will be scheduled elsewhere. My star rating for your facility is a. 1. Gregory Covert

Not impressed

Made the appointment requesting a cataract check. They billed the exam to my insurance as routine vision exam. It was denied, so now I have a 199.00 unpaid bill. Also, the wait was unbelievable. We were there over two hours, one delay following the next, only explanation was that they were busy today. I wasn’t impressed and will never be back.

Feedback for Eye Care Physicians and Surgeons

FEEDBACK FOR EYE CARE PHYSICIANS AND SURGEONS FROM HUGH CUNNINGHAM I am providing feedback on my Cataract Surgeries. It has been sometime since my last post operation appointment on October 3rd. I have been ill but I also wanted to leave enough time to evaluate post surgical status. The staff is very competent and Doctor Gurdian provided sufficient information and answered all my questions. I previously had Strabismus surgery on my left eye. My cataract surgeries employed the use of the premium lens. At the same time a left eye Astigmatism was corrected. I realize everyone eyes are different. The Doctors can only work with what they have to work with. Here are my specific post surgeries comments. Doctor Gurdian was made aware that I have balance issues. I was told balance is a complex issue and could not be materially corrected by Cataract Surgery. I wished that that light that I require to see would have decreased. I am ok to drive without glasses however very clean glasses do improve the situation. Very clean glasses require frequent maintenance. My close up vision is more problematic. Due to Strabismus surgery the depth and width of the vision window has been reduced. Doctor Gurdian attested the Strabismus and his Cataract surgeries were in alignment. Without very clean glasses the font in a Pocket Dictionary cannot be read. Anything smaller requires a magnifying glass. The most troubling issue involves the transition from distance to near vision. Picture looking at a Supermarket isle identifier at the top of the isle, I see nothing readable in the near lens. I am unable to adjust, from far to near in time to avoid short boxes (planters). Measuring an elevation change for my next step is very inaccurate. I am not wearing glasses outside of the house or when reading something in the public. These are my thoughts. Please contact me if you have comments. Hugh Cunningham Documents/eye doctor/Eye Care Cataract Surgery feedback 011620.doc

Optic 49

Keizer Optic 49 frame selection too small and service is overall unfriendly. Commercial Optic 49 is excellent. Not only is the selection of frames much larger but they are more knowledgeable, helpful, and professional that Keizer store.

Patient Review of Physician and Professional Staff

Dr. Rowell is a great Ophthalmologist with a very reassuring and confident manner. The Eye Care staff was very capable and prompt in meeting me after my arrival and in obtaining the information Dr. Rowell needed to provide his services in an efficient manner. Whenever I have the opportunity, I recommend the professionals at Eye Care for the services they provide.

BILATERAL CATARACT SURGERY AND LENS REPLACEMENT

Dr. Warner was the surgeon for the cataract surgery and replacement lens. The process from pre-op visit to final post-op visit was smooth and comprehensive. The staff was extremely knowledgable in helping me decide which lens to consider. In the end, I chose the trifocal/toric lens. I have 20/20 vision with no complications or complaints. I would highly recommend Eyecare Physicians clinic and surgical center,

Annual eye exam for cataract

Everything in October appointment completed in an efficient, timely manner. Only one glitch for me - I mentioned the third year persistence of the skin flap on lower right lid that I had noted to the doctor for the last 2 years. Once again I rec'd reassurance that the skin flap was nothing. Then, when at a dermatology appointment in November, the dermatologist wanted to know about the "suspicious" lower lid flap on a report the dermatology clinic had received from the eye doctor. That question caught me off guard because there had been no communication to me about the 3 year of the flap now having become suspicious. I called the vision office to discuss the eye doctor's note not having meshed with my memory of what was communicated to me at the October appointment. Doctor's assistant was made aware of my confusion over the note the dermatologist had brought to my attention.

Eye Care

My experience with Eye Care was very good on annual eye exams for 8 years. At this moment, however, I am not sure how to comment because a cataract surgery I received 4 months ago is not looking good yet and a new pair of glasses made based on the surgery is not yet working well. Situation would be clearer after the next doctor-appointment 10 months later.

Lack of follow through

I’ve been getting eye exams annually for the last 10years. The appointment and exam are always satisfactory. However, the notes from my exams are NEVER forwarded to my pcp or my endocrinologist. At every eye exam I am asked to whom I would like my exam notes sent to, and yet the notes NEVER arrive at my other providers. It’s very inconvenient.
