Mixed Experiences

My husband and I have great insurance through my employer and have purchased thousands of dollars through the offices in the past. Usually Oakley a pair for him and myself at least every other year and most of the time annually. We have had stellar customer service and never any problems. Our son is adopted and carries a different insurance OHP. He usually gets a few cases of frames to choose from and since there is no out of pocket expenses why would I care. This year I brought in one of our frames to inquire about using them instead of getting new ones (because we have many high end frames at home) and the gentleman fitting the glasses oddest reaction. He was VERY defensive about it’s a frame from the case or nothing with insurance. I was taken aback because I usually get great service and if we couldn’t use our frames no big deal. When I responded ok let’s slow down and just check the case and see, my son found a pair he liked. I asked out of curiosity how much would it cost to put lenses in the other frames if we chose to later and he was much calmer and told me he thinks it’s about $170 at LensCrafters. Which I thanked him for. I was then talking to someone else about the odd experience and they pointed out it was probably because of my son’s insurance being state funded. End the end the dogs ate the new glasses the next week and when I called to inquire about purchasing another repair, the service was great. They took the informations and said they could simply be replaced no out of pocket cost. We picked them up a couple weeks later no fuss. So I have missed reviews because the two experiences were sooo different.
