We learned about Bentley Butler from several of my husband’s work colleagues, who gave stellar reviews! We had Robert, the owner, finish part of our basement and remodel the other part and we are so very glad we chose him! We can’t speak highly enough about him, have already recommended him to our friends and neighbors, and strongly recommend him to others for their contractor projects! He took the half of our basement that was unfinished and used for storage and the other half of our basement that was very inexpensively finished by the previous owners – and created a magical space! He turned the unfinished space (400 sq ft) into a large room. He brought the finished space (400 sq ft) up to code, re-framed it correctly, and created an office and bedroom and added a shower to the bathroom! During the project he framed out the spaces, added insulation, added drywall, luxury vinyl plank flooring, and CAN lighting throughout, added a tiled shower and updated the bathroom fixtures, got all of the spaces up to code (added electrical outlets, etc.), and painted. The workmanship is exquisite! Robert is extremely hard-working, trustworthy, professional, did the work with integrity, the workmanship and quality was top notch, and treated our home as if it was their own cleaning up every day! Our project took seven weeks, just as he predicted, despite the changes and additions we made! He stayed true to the quote he gave us before the project started and when we made changes to the scope of the project, he communicated with us about the costs for those changes beforehand and they were always very reasonable. Robert came out and gave us a very reasonable quote and was also very timely in returning our calls! Contractors are extremely busy right now and several other companies gave us a quote and then never returned our calls. So him taking the time to return our calls, answering questions and talking about changes to the project, consistently and timely and come out a second time to revise the quote after changes were made was huge! He also communicated well and was available throughout the project! Robert is not a designer so you should know what you want to do for your project. He is however extremely experienced and continued throughout our project to give fabulous recommendations that ultimately made our remodel even better than we had expected! His suggestions were never frivolous or given to unnecessarily increase the costs of the project, they were great functional recommendations for how we could best make use of our space! He is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of the remodel (framing, electrical, plumbing, tiling) and solutions oriented. And he listened to everything we wanted and made it happen! Robert was very flexible during the process! There were a lot of decisions to make and given supply chain issues affecting the country, sometimes my husband and I had to change directions. Robert was always flexible, understanding, and willing to adapt the project. For example, we originally planned to use a prefabricated shower stall but due to supply chain issues we couldn’t find one we loved that was the right size and could arrive in time, so we changed to having the shower tiled. It added several days to the project but Robert was willing to accommodate us and his tilework is beautiful! I would give more than 5 stars if I could! We never used the basement in the past except for storage, because even the ‘finished side’ was not usable space. And now we absolutely love being down there in the spaces Robert created! Our family has already stayed in the basement when visiting and they were blown away by the transformation! We can’t wait for them to come out for the next project we want them to do (adding a portico to the front of the house)! If you are looking for an amazing contractor, look no further!
