From Buttons to The Blox: My Journey on The Greatest Show On Entrepreneurship

When I submitted my application to The Blox during a random moment of free time, I never imagined I’d actually be chosen. But that’s often how the biggest opportunities in life work – they show up when you least expect them.

The Journey Begins My approach to business has always been driven by a thirst for life and adventure rather than industry expertise alone. When I see an opportunity for growth, I dive in headfirst. The Blox represented exactly that – a chance to identify what was holding my business back and push through those barriers.

A Community Revelation One of the most profound moments came during my Pod session with Luke Wade. It sparked a realization about the incredible support system I already had back home. I’d been surrounded by influential mentors and supporters in Salem’s business community all along – I just hadn’t fully recognized the impact of these connections or spoken their language fluently.

The Reality Check Let me be honest – this experience wasn’t always smooth sailing. Day 3 hit me hard. My brain felt like mush, nothing clicked, and I seriously considered quitting. But watching that night’s Blox Off competition reignited something in me. I reminded myself that I didn’t come all the way out to Tulsa to quit – I came to grow, even if growth meant feeling uncomfortable.

The Breakthrough A pivotal conversation with Omar Ghadry in my Pod session helped me realize something crucial – what I do is challenging because I’m walking a path few can maintain. I wasn’t behind; I was exactly where I needed to be. That perspective shift changed everything.

Lessons in Leadership As someone used to operating solo, one of the biggest lessons was about team building. The serial entrepreneurs coaching us demonstrated that scaling beyond six or seven figures requires adapting to pressure and learning to delegate. What I had seen as failures were actually growing pains – I just needed to shift my perspective and start thinking like a CEO.

Community Support Shines Seeing our local partners – Recovery Outreach Community Center (ROCC) and Salem Chamber – featured in the show’s content made my heart soar. Their continued support has been instrumental in our local success, and having them represented in this national platform felt like coming full circle.

Looking Forward Since filming The Blox, we’ve made some big moves – including relocating to Keizer! The experience has transformed how I approach business decisions, helping me focus on strategic growth rather than just immediate capabilities.

To fellow entrepreneurs considering this journey – know that The Blox will challenge you in ways you can’t imagine. But those challenges? They’re precisely what you need to grow. The lessons learned have become part of my daily business operations, and for that, I’m incredibly grateful.
