Community Spotlight: Farris Therapy

Lauren Farris’s journey is a testament to resilience, empathy, and the power of personal experience in shaping professional passion. From overcoming her own hearing impairment to co-founding Farris Therapy, Lauren’s story is one of dedication to helping others navigate challenges she knows all too well.

Farris Therapy, a pediatric therapy clinic located in Greenbrier, Heber Springs, and most recently Cabot, is co-owned by Lauren and her husband Jonah Farris and has become a beacon of hope for families seeking personalized, compassionate care. Lauren describes how their different strengths—Jonah’s organizational skills and her creative outreach—complement each other in running the business. “We kind of bring both of those together to be able to collaborate and get plans in place and help Farris Therapy keep growing, and be able to know how to best help our families,” she explained.

One of the standout aspects of Lauren’s story is her own experience with hearing impairment, diagnosed after a severe bout of spinal meningitis as a child. This personal journey has profoundly influenced her approach to therapy. She understands firsthand the challenges her young patients face and uses this insight to build strong, empathetic connections with them and their families. “Growing up and hating it… there are still a lot of days that I don’t love it. But it has allowed me to realize talents that I had and the ability to connect with so many of my kids.”

Farris Therapy distinguishes itself from other providers through its emphasis on effective communication and personal connection.  Farris Therapy take their time to break down the diagnosis, explain the therapy process, and provide the support the families need. “It’s really important to us that these families know that they are seen and heard,” Lauren emphasized.

Lauren recounted moments when small victories made a big impact, such as a family being able to enjoy a meal at a restaurant without their child having a meltdown, thanks to the guidance and support from the therapists. These “little things” are what make the work so rewarding for Lauren and her team. “Little victories and sessions, little connections like that… it just makes Farris Therapy thrive,” she said.

Community involvement is a core value at Farris Therapy. Lauren described their participation in local events like the Strawberry Festival and Cabot Fest, and their efforts to provide resources and support to families in need. The clinic’s commitment to the community is also evident in their monthly giveaways and special events like Water Week, designed to engage and delight the children they serve.

Looking to the future, Lauren is excited about the growth and new initiatives for Farris Therapy, especially in the Cabot area. While specific plans are still under wraps, the focus remains on deepening their community involvement and expanding their services to meet the needs of local families.

Lauren’s story and the mission of Farris Therapy remind us of the profound impact that empathy and personal experience can have in professional practice. Her dedication to effective communication, community involvement, and compassionate care sets Farris Therapy apart as a leader in pediatric therapy.
