Worst Possible Service Imaginable

One of the slides on my large 5th wheel purchased last year is not working properly and does not extend. It worked fine last year but I discovered on may long weekend it has an issue. We had planned to leave on extended 6 week vacation in BC the first week of June. I called western in Leduc (where I purchased this $75k fifth wheel last spring after our house burned down during the wildfire) and was told I would have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment. I told them that I was going on vacation and they informed me that they were busy and that was the earliest they could get it done. I understood as this is a busy time of year for RV service. I told them that I could push back my travel plans if this was the earliest it could be fixed. I live in fort mcmurray and made the more than 5 hour drive down last night. When I arrived there this morning to drop it off I asked what time tomorrow I could pick it up. That\'s when I was told \"oh it will take 2 or 3 weeks to fix it\" In complete disbelief I asked what is the point in having an appointment if it\'s just going to sit here for 2 weeks before you even attempt to fix it? As if these types of complaints happened daily the lady went and got the manger. When I asked him the same question he said that the appointments are just so you can get in line to have your problem fixed. I informed them that I was leaving in 2 days to go on vacation and the manger basically told me \"too bad\" he said it shouldn\'t take 3 weeks but definitely wouldn\'t be ready by Friday. Absolutely no attempt was made for any kind of accommodation like \"well let me see how fast I can get it in or \"let me look at the schedule\" just the blank indifferent stare of a person who could care less about the extreme inconvenience this has caused us. Needless to say I did not leave the trailer as I was not offered an even vague idea of when it would be done. Moreover, my pregnant wife and 15 month old daughter made the trip with me as our trailer is fully packed trailer is ready to depart for vacation. We had booked a hotel room to stay in tonight as we expected to be able to pick up the trailer tomorrow and go on vacation. I\'m absolutely sure that they had no idea what an ordeal it is to get the trailer to them in the first place nor did they seem to even care. It would have been very beneficial if they had explained that the drop off appointments have nothing to do with when it will be fixed, I don\'t believe this is too much to ask as some people travel great distances and have travel plans hinging around these appointments. Now we have to leave for vacation for 6 weeks in a trailer that has an inoperable slide, very nice. I had planned on trading this trailer in next year as the one we have currently isn\'t ideally configured for our growing family. This is the 3rd trailer I\'ve purchased in the last 10 years. My service experience with the Leduc western was so horrendously bad that not only have they lost me as a customer for new RV\'s, but I will not take my unit there for service and I will not even buy parts from them just on principle. I will also tell everyone that asks not to purchase an RV from western as their service is as poor as you could possibly imagine. Sadly, this is 2 out of 2 very poor service experiences with western Leduc. Last year right after purchasing the trailer the fridge quit working. Not usually a life or death situation unless you happen to be living it with a new born baby during a mass evacuation right after your house burnt down. I had had to leave to go back to work the next morning so I went to western and asked if they could send someone to fix it at the Leduc lions campground, less than 5 min away. I was told I would have to wait 10 days for an appointment and then bring it in as I did not purchase the remote service package. When i informed them that this was not possible as I had to go back to work and wider would not be able to bring it in I was again greeted with a \"too bad\" attitude. From there I walked over and talked with the salesman who sold us the trailer. He was great and told me he\'d call me after he figured it out. He called me an hour later and had someone out the next day to fix it. This much greatly appreciated as it saved all the frozen breast milk my wife had spent countless hours pumping. Both of these experiences have led me to the conclusion that the service department and especially the service manger does not care about providing even half decent service to their customers. Given my experience with them there must be countless others who have had terrible experiences. Don\'t buy a trailer here as the service is as bad as you could possibly imagine.
