5-Star Review of Shortland Golf Club

Ok here’s the deal I almost never leave reviews but I am inclined to tell you about this place. Today Feb 3rd was easily one of the best days of Golf in all my years playing. Let me play it out I booked this tee time with a bit of apprehension with the thought of “well bit of a drive worst case we see a new course”. However I will tell you we were in no way ready for this. We were met at the clubhouse with the nicest staff I have ever been in contact with, followed by the nicest facilities as well as an extensive drink selection. And we had not even teed off that’s a whole separate piece in itself. At no point did we ever feel rushed easily the most relaxing experience I have ever had. And for those of you who read this far and are saying “yeah but it’s just a par 3 and I just won’t feel very challenged” I’d say good luck lol give it a shot. The course is absolutely as technical as they come yet in the same note somewhere you can take people brand new to golf. Want to challenge yourself ok go for it you can play some very risky shots, play the course as it lies and make shots that make you feel like a pro. I say all this and I almost forgot to mention something. We played this course not once but twice today all 38 holes of it. Oh yeah forgot to say that part it’s a 19 hole course, and with course conditions pace of play and just the overall environment that simply wasn’t enough. Hands down to the ownership and staff please never change this was amazing. -Andrew

Really cool, fun and unique short course game! The greens are really fast, the bunkers can be tall but it was awesome. The facility is absolutely fantastic also!

I was a little concerned that Shortland Golf Course might be challenging for a beginner golfer because the holes are relatively short and close together. However, the course is laid out so well that there was plenty of room for forgiveness on wayward shots, which made for a much more enjoyable experience. I also wasn't sure how I would feel about the artificial turf, but it turned out that most of the course is natural and absolutely gorgeous. The greens are fast and take a little time to adjust to, but they are both challenging and fun. Even the bunkers were enjoyable to play from. What I liked most was how the layout created a more intimate experience with our group. We stayed closer together than we typically would on a traditional course, which meant more time to enjoy each other's company throughout the round. The clubhouse and midway snack shack were both excellent, with plenty of food and drink options, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. We all had a great time and will definitely be back.

I really want to gatekeep this course for my own selfish reasons. This is a sick little course that’s perfect for quick short game pitch n putt. They also have a smaller version too. Also a low key spot for families and beginners during the off hours. Don’t hog all the tee times

Shortland is such a fun new addition to the Portland golf scene! 🎉 From the moment you arrive, it’s clear they’ve thought of everything. Plenty of parking makes it easy to get in and out, and the pro shop is just the right size, offering a welcoming spot with a great view overlooking much of the course. The tee boxes and greens are all made of synthetic turf, which not only looks fantastic but keeps play consistent year-round. You only need 3–4 clubs to enjoy the whole course, making it approachable for all levels of golfers. At each tee, the signs provide yardage and even double as beverage holders — such a creative touch that makes the experience even more fun. It’s a super easy course to walk, with smooth flow between holes, and right in the center is Slams, a great little bar named after a golfer who recently passed away — a meaningful and memorable tribute. Overall, Shortland is well-designed, beautiful, and a total blast to play whether you’re new to golf or a seasoned player. Highly recommend checking it out with friends, family, or even on your own for a relaxing and enjoyable round!
