Compassionate and Accommodating
My sweet cat Zelda has been suffering for cancer since we found out for 2 1/2 months and we made sure that she lived every single day of that. She went for walks and adventures and on camping trips and enjoyed every moment. We love our primary vet, and they’ll be receiving a 5 star from me too, but for now I want to focus on Hoffmann Vet.
Zelda was scheduled to finally be put down on Saturday. She had to be put down on Friday and our primary vet wasn’t available.
Zelda loved being outside for long periods, and so we couldn’t always supervise, which had been fine until that Friday afternoon. She reached around her cone with her back foot and scratched at her face, and she began to bleed.
We cleaned her face, and made her comfortable, but no matter what we did, the steady drip of blood didn’t stop, and it was apparent her time had come, earlier than we had hoped.
I hurriedly started contacting vet’s by email, as I couldn’t make it through a phone call, asking for quotes for same day euthanasia and later private cremation, as there was a lot we couldn’t afford.
Hoffman vet got back to me within 10 minutes of receiving my email, and gave me an affordable quote, and said they can see us now or at 4. At first I hoped Zelda could last till 4, but after looking her over again, I called them back asking if now was still on the table. It was.
Zelda was in pain, and so the ride to the vet was not the peaceful drive I had hoped it would be. Midway through I called them again because Zelda seemed to be having a seizure, and asked the staff if they could meet us out side, they said they could.
Zelda had a second seizure as we arrived, and two lovely ladies met us outside with a towel. They took Zelda through the back to administer the sedative and took us through the front of the clinic. We didn’t have to wait long and Zelda was much calmer after the sedative.
They gave us all the time we asked for with her, and allowed us to comfort her as they administered the final inject, and after a thorough check, Zelda was gone.
They were so so compassionate as I was not in a composed state, and they clipped some fur for us to keep from her tail. They wrapped my Zelda up in a soft blanket and took her away when we were ready.
They work with heavenly wings crematorium, and they had a folder of different urns and boxes for us to look through for the private cremation. They offered us water and any comfort they could, to us and Zelda.
We are not patients. We’ve never interacted with Hoffman vet before, and they took us in and treated us and Zelda like friends.
Compassionate, affordable, and impossibly kind, I can’t recommend their practice enough.
