Vision Examination and Diagnosis

The technician was excellent. Answered all my questions or told me to ask the doctor if it was something he couldn't answer. My doctor, who I have liked very much and has given me wonderful care, seemed to be distracted and in a hurry. He may have been running behind since it was over an hour after my eyes were dilated before he came in for the examination. I understand how that happens and had no concern about it. He did the exam, told me I had macular degeneration and there was no treatment for it, handed me a paper with info on it, said there were vitamins that some people thought helped and left, The vitamins were hand written on the hand out. I definitely feel like a throw away patient, a vibe I have never gotten from him before. I am elderly and have had cancers so I suppose such an attitude may be the case. My oncologist suggested a second opinion but that doesn't seem necessary if there is no treatment anyway. I may pursue that or not. I have not decided.
