Once formal charges are filed against you in court, you have a lot of important rights that are triggered. You have the right to an attorney, the right to investigate your case, the right to be heard, and rights during trial such as confronting witnesses, presenting evidence, and being presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
