5 Star Review By A B
Earlier this week some neighbors had their driveway and carport area paved. By my direct observation, I can say the crew at BAC was quick, efficient, had a dedicated traffic control guy, kept vehicles parked on one side of the road, and a few hours later they were gone, leaving behind nothing but a nice asphalt driveway and cones to remind the neighbors and their guests to keep off while it hardened/cured. So take the disgruntled guy's unfair 1-star review with the smallest grain of salt. I'm confident that if he had told the foreman he needed to leave, they would have been more than happy to accommodate. ...not to mention, in 2-3 hours I'm sure they were done and gone. The first arrivals of the crew got in early morning (8-ish) to scrape and prepare the surface with a small front-end loader. Once prepared, gravel was brought in, dumped, spread, and compacted. The crew seemed to grow as the process continued. A paver was loaded with hot asphalt, laid down the surface, and men with asphalt rakes/tampers contoured the side edges while a small steam roller went back and forth over the surface. Guys with sprayers ran around spraying various equipment, apparently to keep it cool so the asphalt didn't stick. A crew with a push-mower-sized mini compactor worked on the top edges, driveway entrance, and anywhere the big roller didn't cover. Several neighbors watched the spectacle as this crew installed a new driveway over the course of a couple/few hours. It was a sight to see. With the front-end loader, they cleaned up the street to remove any excess asphalt. A guy with a push broom swept up, and when they were done it was back to the sounds and smells of late-summer. The only evidence they had been there was a nice new black driveway and three road cones. It's disheartening to see the company's reviews and overall rating affected by someone who didn't use their services and was only slightly inconvenienced for a couple hours by their neighbor's improvements, but without a doubt what I witnessed was a well-organized and highly professional effort by a large crew to get in and get the job done. I'm no expert on asphalt work, but it appeared they used all the right materials, processes, equipment, tools, techniques, and had sufficient crew to do it right. Based on what I saw, I will definitely use BAC Paving for any asphalt work I should ever need.
