When Todd Dillon first moved to Searcy, Arkansas, back in 2001, starting a painting company wasn’t in the original plan. But life has a funny way of guiding us toward our strengths. Todd, a former field supervisor who built homes up north, found himself in need of a new direction after relocating to care for his father. That’s when Dillon’s Painting was born—a business that combines Todd’s creativity and eye for detail with his practical experience in construction.

Over the last two decades, Todd has built Dillon’s Painting into a respected name in the Searcy area. From small residential projects to large commercial jobs, he’s painted it all.

Todd’s journey in painting began with a focus on faux finishes, a unique service that set him apart from other local painters. “At first, I was one of the only people around here who could do faux finish work,” Todd explains. “If someone wanted their walls to look like leather or have a distressed, vintage feel, I could make that happen.”

His creative touch extended beyond walls. Todd often took on custom cabinetry work, making old furniture look like it had been part of a home for generations. One memorable project involved creating a theater room where old pictures were embedded in the drywall, giving the space a truly unique, timeworn look.

“We made it look like these old pictures were part of the wall, like they’d been posted up years ago and covered over time,” Todd says with a smile. “It’s that kind of creative work that I really enjoy.”

While these creative projects made him stand out early on, Todd’s business grew as he tackled larger, more traditional painting jobs. Over the years, Dillon’s Painting has handled everything from small home interiors to larger commercial spaces, including painting the Kubota dealership on Main Street and the Ironback Building on East Line.

For Todd, the key to success isn’t just about the size of the job—it’s about the quality and the personal touch he brings to every project. His creativity, particularly with custom and faux finishes, has earned him a loyal following in Searcy, especially among clients who want something more than just a standard paint job.

“A lot of my clients come to me because they know I can do things other painters can’t,” Todd says. “I’m good with color, and I can help bring their vision to life. Whether they want a room to look like it’s from an old farmhouse or something totally custom, I can do that.”

Word of mouth has been Todd’s primary marketing tool, with referrals coming from satisfied clients and local stores like Sherwin-Williams. “When someone spills something on their nice cabinetry or needs a special finish, places like Sherwin-Williams will send them my way,” Todd notes. “That’s been a great source of business for me.”

As Todd continues to grow Dillon’s Painting, he’s excited about the possibility of taking on new, creative projects. He’s already dabbled in mural work, like the sky ceiling he painted for a lawyer’s office, and he’s open to more personalized requests from clients who want something unique.

“I painted a sky mural for a lawyer who’s also a pilot,” Todd recalls. “He loved it, and it’s still there today.”

Whether it’s a small residential job or a large commercial project, Todd remains committed to providing top-quality work with a creative touch. With a loyal client base and a reputation for going above and beyond, Dillon’s Painting is set to keep brightening up Searcy for years to come.
