Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Dreamfest Weekend

Dreamfest is a weekend of events, both community and Cary sponsored, that celebrate the legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin L. King Jr. The holiday weekend includes a diverse range of programs that explore topics such as equity, representation, and poverty while providing opportunities for community service.

Under the Silver Moon Lantern Parade

Delight in unique, handmade paper lanterns throughout Downtown Cary Park during the annual Under the Silver Moon Lantern Parade. This lantern parade is part of GLOW 2024, led by internationally renowned teaching artist Gowri Savoor. The colorful parade will begin in Frantz Square at 6:15 p.m. and will proceed through the Park.

Following the parade there will be live entertainment, featuring Bulltown Strutters, One Tribe Rhythms, and Caroleeena’s Circle of Joy. Food trucks will be available along Park Street from 5 – 8 p.m. These include Golden K Dog, Mr. Pueblo’s Tacos, and Dusty’s Donuts!

This event is free and open to the general public.

NC Chinese Lantern Festival

Don’t miss your chance to see the Chinese Lantern Festival. Artisans have crafted more than 40 all new displays for this year’s show, each one comprising hundreds of parts, and thousands of LED lights. These larger-than-life lanterns will captivate visitors at every turn with amazing craftsmanship and artistic beauty. Cultural arts performances will take place each night on the main stage.

Cary Downtown Farmers Market 

The Cary Downtown Farmers Market has been getting fresh since 1996! Today it hosts local farmers from within a 100 mile radius of downtown Cary. These growers stick to environmental best practices, using minimal fertilizers and chemicals, including no post-harvest chemicals. And, they practice responsible methods of raising meat animals, and near-organic methods of growing crops. In additional to local farmers, you’ll also get to discover and sample the products of local artisans such as coffee roasters, bakers, and craftsmen. Together, the vendors that make up the Farmers Market share a passion for fresh and local products!
