Volunteering is a meaningful way to give back to your community, and Cabot, Arkansas offers various opportunities to lend a hand. Whether you’re passionate about supporting veterans, feeding families in need, or helping local churches, there are several ways to get involved. One notable organization is Feed the Veterans Food Pantry, a unique program in Cabot specifically for military veterans and their families.
1. Feed the Veterans Food Pantry
Located at 1212 South 2nd Street, Feed the Veterans is a special food pantry that allows veterans to “shop” for their food and personal hygiene items, providing them with dignity and choice. Instead of receiving pre-packed boxes, veterans use grocery carts to select the items they need for the month.
The pantry is open on the 3rd Thursday of each month (6 PM – 8 PM) and 3rd Saturday (9 AM – 12 PM). For October, special hours include October 17th (6 PM – 8 PM) and October 19th (9 AM – 12 PM). This pantry is open to all veterans and their family members under the age of 18. To participate, veterans need to show a DD Form 214, Military ID, or VA Healthcare ID along with a photo ID.
Volunteering opportunities at Feed the Veterans include helping veterans shop, stocking shelves, and organizing donations. You can get in touch with them via their Facebook page (@FeedTheVeterans) to learn how to volunteer or donate.
2. Cabot Church of Christ Food Pantry
Another great way to serve your community is by volunteering at the Cabot Church of Christ Food Pantry. Located at 500 N 2nd St., this pantry serves residents of Cabot and surrounding areas. It distributes groceries on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. In addition to the pantry services, the church provides free meals on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10:30 AM to anyone in need.
Volunteers are always needed to help distribute food, organize the pantry, and assist with meal preparations. This is a great opportunity to connect with others and help fight food insecurity in Cabot.
3. Briarwood Baptist Church Food Pantry
The Briarwood Baptist Church Food Pantry offers food assistance on the 2nd Monday of each month from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and the 4th Wednesday from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The pantry is located near Cabot at 1874 AR-321 and provides essential support to local families.
