Nosh Restaurant in Moore Oklahoma exterior

In the heart of Moore, there’s a culinary haven that’s more than just a restaurant; it’s the embodiment of one woman’s journey from table service to the pinnacle of hospitality. Welcome to Nosh, where every plate carries the legacy of Kim Torres, the woman whose love for the restaurant business turned a fleeting job into a lifelong passion for feeding her community.

Kim Torres: A Culinary Visionary

Kim’s story begins in the bustling restaurant scene of Norman, Oklahoma, where waiting tables was merely a means to an end. Yet, as she navigated through high school, college, and graduate school, the allure of the restaurant world captivated her.

Hal Smith, a figure of significance in Kim Torres’ entrepreneurial journey, played a pivotal role in her transition from an employee within the restaurant industry to an entrepreneur. Smith, recognizing Kim’s potential and her passion for the culinary world, provided the initial encouragement and mentorship that spurred her to take the leap into business ownership.

This support was not merely motivational; it was instrumental in helping Kim navigate the early challenges of establishing a catering business. Smith’s influence is a testament to the impact that seasoned industry professionals can have on aspiring entrepreneurs, offering guidance, confidence, and a foundational belief in one’s ability to succeed.

Through this mentorship, Kim was able to channel her experience, drive, and vision into creating Nosh, a business that reflects her culinary ethos and dedication to community engagement. (What a testament to the character of Hal Smith, but that’s another article.)

The Birth of Nosh: A Standout on 19th

Nosh’s inception was definitely serendipitous, although not without it’s difficulties. As Kim outgrew her initial catering space in Norman, the Moore Chamber of Commerce recommended a spot in Moore—a place previously known as Tea-licious just east of the interstate.

This venue, with its larger kitchen and charming layout, was the perfect setting for Kim to blend her catering expertise with her newfound restaurant ambitions. Thus, Nosh was born, not just as a restaurant but as a symbol of growth, adaptation, and the realization of a dream.

Even when it seemed the stars aligned, the challenges Kim faced in opening Nosh were multifaceted. Beyond the logistical hurdles of setting up a restaurant, Kim dealt with personal trials, including her mother’s illness. This delayed Nosh’s opening by 5 months!

This backdrop of adversity underscores a recurring theme in her narrative: resilience. Her ability to navigate these challenges while maintaining focus on her business’s growth and the quality of serving both her clientele and her staff is a testament to her strength and dedication.

A Menu That Mirrors Her Story

At Nosh, the menu is a reflection of Kim’s journey—a blend of traditional favorites and innovative creations. Whether it’s the elevated brunch menu that draws crowds every weekend or the signature dishes like chicken, bacon, mac and cheese, and honey garlic pork ribeye, each recipe is a testament to Kim’s dedication to culinary excellence. (In this writer’s opinion, the Pot Roast will blow your hair back!)

Beyond Dining: Nosh’s Signature Catering and Enchanting Tea Parties

Kim’s initial foray into the catering world laid the foundation for Nosh’s multifaceted approach to dining. Catering services, from corporate events to weddings, showcase Nosh’s versatility and commitment to quality. Meanwhile, the Princess Tea Parties are Kim’s way of bringing magic and joy to the community—creating unforgettable experiences for the young and young at heart!
