As the scent of freshly brewed coffee is soon to waft through the Cleveland County Fairgrounds, the community of Norman is buzzing with anticipation for the 3rd Annual Common Grounds Coffee Festival. Coming up on Saturday, March 2, from 9am to 4pm, this event is more than a celebration; it’s a pivotal moment for community building and supporting Rose Rock Habitat for Humanity, the local affiliate for Cleveland and Pottawatomie counties.

This isn’t just any festival; it’s a testament to the power of community and the universal love for coffee, ingeniously brewed into a single event. Set against the backdrop of our vibrant local scene, the festival promises to be a gathering like no other, where aficionados and casual sippers alike can unite over their shared passion. Just beneath the surface of this caffeinated jubilee lies a deeper purpose: Normanites helping Normanites achieve the dream of home ownership.

“The Common Grounds Coffee Festival brings our community together in a unique and impactful way. It’s an opportunity to celebrate our shared commitment to creating positive change and supporting families in need.”

Elle Shroyer, Vice President of Donor and Community Engagement

The Perfect Blend of Coffee and Community Support

This festival stands as a testament to Norman’s spirit of giving, with a portion of the proceeds directly funding local Habitat for Humanity housing projects. Last year’s successful festival translated into lives changed and families uplifted right here in the heart of Norman.

Elle shared, “With the funds raised, we were able to complete two home builds, provide essential emergency home repairs, revitalize communities, construct ramps for enhanced accessibility, and offer valuable support and referrals to families. The impact of our organization extends far beyond physical spaces; it touches the hearts and lives of those we serve.”

Brewing Anticipation: What to Expect at the Festival

With over 70 vendors, including esteemed local coffee shops like Brewed Awakenings and The Daily Grind, a large variety of the finest brews and blends will be available. Alongside the coffee, attendees will be treated to live music, workshops on brewing techniques, and insights into the sustainability of the coffee industry.

  • Admission is $10 per person, which includes access to 70+ vendors and activities for all ages.
  • Family packs include tickets for 2 adults and 3 kids (ages 6–17) for $30. Children aged 5 and under can attend for free.

Spotlight on Participants and Community Engagement

With the introduction of their family packs this year, the festival is reinforced as a family-friendly event, and promises to be an enriching experience for all ages. With Not Your Average Joe’s VW Van Photo Booth, STEAM activities, and storytimes for children that will add to the day’s attractions, it will truly be an event with something for everyone!

Rose Rock Habitat for Humanity: Building More Than Houses

Habitat for Humanity’s mission in Norman goes beyond constructing houses—it’s about fostering community and hope by bringing affordable access to homeownership for those that otherwise might never have the option. The Common Grounds Coffee Festival serves as a critical fundraiser, enabling the organization to continue its vital work.

Reflecting on the growth of Rose Rock Habitat for Humanity, Shroyer highlighted,

“Our journey from a small community organization to a regional force in south central Oklahoma is a testament to the strength of our community. Together, with the support of local businesses and organizations, we aim to create a better, fairer, and more inclusive community for all our friends and neighbors.”

The anticipation for this year’s Common Grounds Coffee Festival is a call to action for the community of Norman. “Your participation is not just about enjoying a day out; it’s a step towards building a stronger, more supportive community through Rose Rock Habitat for Humanity,” encourages Shroyer.
