Cabot Animal Support Services (CASS) is offering a valuable opportunity for pet owners to ensure their animals are up-to-date on vital vaccinations. On Sept. 14 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. CASS will hold its popular Low-Cost Drive-Thru Vaccine Clinic at Cabot Freshman Academy, located at 18 Spirit Drive, Cabot, AR. This event will provide affordable veterinary care to community members, helping them keep their pets healthy without the high cost of regular vet visits.

Brandy Buie, Marketing and Fundraising Coordinator for CASS, emphasized the significance of this event for the community. “We started hosting the low-cost drive-through vaccine clinic many years ago. We used to host it in a movie theater parking lot. We would be so excited when we did 200 vaccines… Now, we have it at the Freshman Academy twice a year in the spring and fall, and we do anywhere between 2,000-4,000 vaccines,” she explained. The clinic, which is held twice a year—once in the spring and once in the fall—has grown exponentially, with the team administering thousands of vaccines during each event.

Buie stressed that the rising costs of pet care have left many families struggling. “With the economy the way it is, many people are forced to choose between paying for their pets’ medical needs and buying groceries,” she said. CASS’s vaccine clinic aims to provide a solution, offering low-cost services so families don’t have to make difficult sacrifices. “We want to help people care for their pets without going broke.”

The clinic offers a variety of bundled vaccines for both dogs and cats at significantly reduced prices. The following vaccinations will be available:

  • Dogs under 3 months: $30 for DAPPV and Bordetella vaccines.
  • Dogs over 3 months: $40 for 1-year Rabies, DAPPV, and Bordetella vaccines.
  • Cats under 3 months: $15 for FVRCP vaccine.
  • Cats over 3 months: $30 for 1-year Rabies and FVRCP vaccines.

Important Note: The clinic only accepts cash payments, so attendees are reminded to come prepared. “Every year we get people who wait in line for hours and only bring credit cards, but we are a cash-only event,” Buie emphasized. She encouraged everyone to bring the correct payment to ensure smooth service. No other paperwork or proof of residence is needed, and there are no restrictions on breeds. “We just need you, your pet, and your cash, and we will get you fixed up,” Buie added.

The drive-thru format of the clinic has been a hit with local pet owners, allowing them to stay in their vehicles while their pets receive vaccines. “We see families bringing vans full of animals,” Buie remarked. The convenience and affordability are a big draw, particularly for those with multiple pets.

By making these services accessible to everyone in the community, CASS is fulfilling its mission of “Happy People, Happy Pets.” Buie noted that the clinic is not just limited to Cabot residents; it’s open to anyone in the state of Arkansas, and the organization has even seen attendees from out of state. “There’s a huge need for affordable care, especially in rural areas,” Buie said. “We want to make sure everyone has access, whether they live in Cabot, Lonoke County, or anywhere else.”

Buie shared some helpful advice for those planning to attend the event. Here are a few things to remember if you’re attending the clinic:

  • Bring cash: This is a cash-only event, so make sure to have the correct amount ready.
  • Be patient: Lines can get long, but the drive-thru setup keeps things moving.
  • No paperwork needed: You don’t need to bring any paperwork; just yourself, your pets, and the payment.
  • Friendly pets: The vaccines are administered through car windows for ease, but if your pet isn’t comfortable with that, the team can assist outside the vehicle.

This clinic has grown from a small event into a community staple that provides much-needed services. “We started small, but now it’s become a major event that people depend on,” Buie said. “We’re proud to offer something that helps our community care for their pets.”

If you’re looking for an affordable way to keep your pets healthy, make sure to mark your calendar for Sept. 14 and head over to the Cabot Freshman Academy for this incredible event. Whether you have one pet or a dozen, CASS is ready to provide the care your animals need, at a price you can afford.
