BEEBE, Ark. – In a heartfelt tribute, Arkansas State University-Beebe (ASU-Beebe) has established the Sgt. Jason M. Swindle Hero’s Legacy Scholarship. This scholarship honors the memory of Sgt. Jason M. Swindle, who sacrificed his life in 2012 while serving in Panjway, Afghanistan. The scholarship is designed to provide support to the families of military service members who have lost their lives in the line of duty or due to their military service.

This announcement was shared in a press release from the Cabot Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Jennifer Methvin, chancellor at ASU-Beebe, highlighted the significance of the scholarship, stating in the release, “The Sgt. Jason M. Swindle Hero’s Legacy Scholarship is a meaningful way to honor the sacrifices made by our military families. We are dedicated to providing educational opportunities for veterans, with classes offered at all our campus locations, including the Little Rock Air Force Base and online. Through this scholarship, we support veterans in pursuing higher education and transitioning to rewarding careers once out of the military, as well as those who wish to enhance their skills and advance in their careers.”

The scholarship provides extensive support for military veterans pursuing higher education, acknowledging the distinct challenges they encounter when moving from military to civilian life. By offering financial aid and mentorship, the scholarship not only honors Sgt. Swindle’s bravery but also ensures his legacy continues to inspire future generations.

Chelsey Swindle, Jason’s surviving spouse, expressed the impact of this scholarship, stating in the release, “Jason’s legacy is one of bravery, dedication and selflessness. This scholarship stands as a testament to the support and love that friends and families have shown toward our family and children, who continue to grow up with their father’s legacy guiding them. We hope this scholarship will help other veterans achieve their education and career goals, helping them to be successful after military life.”
