Imagine the simple pleasure of opening your door to find a beautifully curated box of tea treasures waiting for you. This is the experience Amy Thomson, owner of Sage Tea & Treats, is creating with her new tea subscription box. Whether you’re a seasoned tea enthusiast or just beginning your journey into the world of tea, Thomson’s subscription box offers a delightful mix of flavors, treats, and accessories that are carefully selected to elevate your tea-drinking experience.

Thomson’s love for tea is at the heart of every box she creates. Each month, she personally handpicks the contents, crafting a theme that resonates with the season or a particular mood she wants to share. “The box is designed for people who already love tea or those who are just getting into it,” Thomson explains. “It’s a great curation of teas and treats from different brands, making it a perfect gift for anyone.”

Inside each box, subscribers can expect a full-size canister of tea bags, several individually wrapped tea bags from different brands, and a loose-leaf packet that offers a small but exciting introduction to the world of loose-leaf teas. For those new to loose leaf, Thomson includes an infuser to make the experience easy and enjoyable. The box also features an international cookie, a teaspoon, and a honey spoon with a different flavor each month, designed to melt into your tea and add a touch of sweetness. “Every item is selected with care, ensuring that each box offers something unique and delightful for tea lovers,” Thomson says.

But the joy doesn’t stop there. Thomson has gone the extra mile to include seasonal elements in each box. From the comforting warmth of autumn flavors to the refreshing taste of summer blends, every box is a reflection of the time of year. “The box follows a seasonal theme, so this month is designed for September. For example, I can’t include caramels or truffles in the hotter months because they would melt, but as the weather cools, those treats will make an appearance.”

The international cookie included in each box adds a global touch, reflecting Thomson’s experience as a military family member who spent years stationed in Germany. “We were a military family for 20 years, and being stationed in Germany opened my eyes to the world of international flavors and treats. This box is my way of sharing those experiences with others, even if they can’t travel themselves.”

Launching a subscription box service, however, has not been without its challenges. Thomson candidly shares how managing the technology behind the scenes was a hurdle she had to overcome. “The first box goes out in September, and while there have been hurdles, I’m thrilled to be able to share this with people all over the country,” she notes. Despite these challenges, Thomson’s passion for tea and her determination to spread joy through her boxes kept her focused on her goal.

For Thomson, the idea of the subscription box was born out of a desire to reach people who don’t have easy access to a tea store. “I’ve had so many customers from out of state tell me how much they love the shop and wish they had something like it near them. This subscription box is my way of serving those people, no matter where they are,” she explains. The subscription box allows Thomson to bring the unique tea experience she offers at Sage Tea & Treats to customers across the country, providing them with a curated selection that they can enjoy from the comfort of their own homes.

Thomson’s vision for the future is ambitious. She hopes to have her boxes shipped to every state in the U.S., spreading the love of tea far and wide. “My goal is to have about 300 boxes going out by the first of the year,” she shares. “It’s a wonderful way to introduce people to new teas and make tea time even more special. Whether it’s a gift or a personal treat, each box is designed to bring joy and comfort.”

The subscription box is not just for those far away. Even local customers find value in the convenience and variety it offers. “Local customers can pick up their boxes in-store, saving time and effort while still enjoying a curated selection of teas each month. It’s also a great gift option,” Thomson explains. One local customer, for instance, has subscribed to receive two boxes each month—one for herself and another to gift to a friend or family member. “She told me it takes the stress out of finding a thoughtful gift every month, and she loves knowing that the recipient will enjoy something special.”

Thomson’s tea subscription box is more than just a collection of products; it’s a way to bring a little joy into people’s lives, one cup of tea at a time. The curated selection, the attention to detail, and the seasonal themes all contribute to making this subscription box a truly special experience. Whether you’re a tea enthusiast or just beginning to explore the world of tea, Thomson’s subscription box promises to delight and inspire with every sip.

“Every month, I handpick the items with a specific theme, ensuring that each box offers something unique and delightful for tea lovers,” Thomson says. “It’s more than just a collection of products; it’s a way to bring a little joy into people’s lives.”

As Thomson looks to the future, she is excited about the possibilities. “There’s so much potential with this subscription box. I can’t wait to see where it goes and how many people we can reach with the joy of tea,” she concludes.
