My Hair Slipped out After 24 Hours

I was very excited to try a new stylist in the area who could do my hair. My appointment was for butterfly locs at mid-back length, but unfortunately, I had several issues during and after my appointment. First, the shop was closed when I arrived, and both stylists were late. I only received a call from Phina to inform me she was running late—10 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start. This didn’t bother me too much at first, but things got worse from there. The appointment took a total of 7 hours, with two stylists switching off due to other appointments coming in. In my previous experiences with other stylists, I’ve never spent more than 4 hours for a similar service. On top of that, they almost ran out of the hair color I wanted because they had picked packs with only 10 locs when there were larger packs available. They didn’t ask me any questions about the style beforehand except for approving the hair they selected. Four hours into the appointment, Phina asked me what length I booked, and I reminded her it was mid-back. She then told me the locs were longer than that and would cost extra. This felt like an attempt to upcharge me mid-appointment, but I agreed because I didn’t want to start all over again. The final result looked beautiful, but it was incredibly heavy due to the amount of hair used (6 packs in total). When I mentioned how heavy it felt, Phina admitted she should have used bigger parts and apologized, but it was frustrating that this wasn’t discussed before they started. Another major issue: the prices on their website are not accurate. The website said $240 and up, but I ended up paying $360 with the tip included. The price breakdown was $90 for the hair packs and $270 for the installation, much more than I anticipated. I paid without arguing because, after 7 hours in the chair (when the website listed it as a 5-hour service), I just wanted to leave. Unfortunately, what sealed the deal for me was that less than 24 hours after the appointment, 5 locs had already slipped out. When I returned to the shop to let her know, she was kind and offered to fix them. However, in the next 3 days, 12 locs in total fell out, which made it clear that the entire style was unstable. Given how quickly the locs were slipping out, I couldn’t be sure how many more would fall out in the coming days or weeks. I requested a refund due to the faulty installation, but she refused, saying her workers had already been paid. She offered to fix the fallen locs, but for me to feel satisfied, the entire style would need to be redone, and I don’t have the time or patience for another 7-hour appointment. I then asked for a partial refund and was ghosted. I’m very disappointed with this experience and cannot recommend this salon. The locs slipping out so soon after the appointment and the lack of willingness to provide a refund for an unstable installation was extremely frustrating.
