When considering who you’d like to recommend as a local place, think about who your Power Team might consist of.

A power team is a group of businesses who are in complementary professions. They typically work with the same customers but do not compete for business.

In other words; who else sells to the same customer? This can be a fantastic source of referrals and is an excellent way to recommend other local places from your Business Profile. Once you establish your power team, invite them all to join WhirLocal, and recommend each other for more word of mouth referrals.

A great example would be in the real estate industry. A power team would include a realtor, mortgage broker, home inspector, and title and escrow. Additional members of a real estate power team could include home improvement contractors such as roofers, painters, and landscapers.

Here are a few more examples of power teams:

To help consumers find your business on WhirLocal, you can add what you do and where you do it to your business profile.

This video shows you how.

Some industries are required by state or federal laws to post license numbers or legal notices.

Contractors, for example, may need to post their state license number to avoid getting fined by the state board.

Attorneys may want to post a legal notice or disclaimer that notifies users that when they fill out a form or contact them it does not establish a legal relationship with the firm.

We’ve made it easy to include this information on your business profile and landing pages.

Most local organizations rely on word-of-mouth referrals. Our guess is that you’re no different.

Recommending other local places is a great way to practice the #LocalTogether approach that is one of our core values here at . It positions you as a local connector and influencer in your neighborhood.

Here’s a quick video to show you how to do it

Just go to your Business Profile and scroll to the Places We Recommend section. You can search for and select existing places in the neighborhood. If they don’t exist, you can invite them.

Did you know?

When you invite someone who isn’t on WhirLocal, your Unique Affiliate ID is built into the email invitation. If they sign up for an account via your invitation and then upgrade to a paid membership, you get paid a referral commission.

As a WhirLocal Affiliate, you have the opportunity to earn money from

1) direct referral commissions for paid WhirLocal accounts that you sell or refer to others via Your Unique Affiliate URL, and

2) bonus referral commissions when the members you sell or refer in turn sell or refer a paid membership to others.

You can feature your staff members by adding them into WhirLocal. It’s a great way to pre-build the know, like, and trust factor before a prospect reaches out to you. Plus, it’s also a great way to show appreciation to your key team members.

Here’s how it works.
